Found an offer at comet online. Sagem VS1 (on vodaphone) it is designed to be simple to use (big screen, big numbers supposed to be straight forward).
online price £19.99+£5.95 delivery. its £49.99 in argos catalouge.

its on vodaphone but would cost approx £10 to unlock if you wanted to use orange.

  • Hi,

Vodafone also offer the Sagem VS3, again this is also a "Vodafone Simply" model if you'd like a smaller flip-phone stye handset. There's more information over on the Vodafone website below:

    hope this helps

My mother in law needs a PAYG phone to replace the contract phone she has that she is wasting £25 a month on. She doesn't need a camera or colour screen really but just something with a big display and big buttons. The tarriff needs to be cheap (mobile world maybe?) and allow her to send and make calls when in France. SMS not really necessary even.

Any ideas? Nokia 1100 looks good? Or even 3220?

Vodafone have been advertising the Simple handset for exactly that customer base and it should be available for both contract and payg.

Not sure about the tariffs but may be worth a look in the Vodafone shop if you have one locally.

**actually on a monthly contract there are some £8 and £10 tariffs (with the phone free) which is pretty good

SbutS - good advice. Think she has a Nokia but will check

Claudie - Thanks for that link - will look it up.. Do you know if by chance it will allow her to roam to France?
