Nothing wrong with Luke per se, but OH wants it just so he can say, in a Darth Vader voice, 'Luke....I am your father...'. He's also adamant that if it's twins it'll have to be Luke and Leia. The joys of being married to a geek, eh?!
Could be worse, OH's brother announced that he wants to call his son Noah Optimus Andrew H* (*our surname) so that his initials spell out his name! Cool concept and Noah's a lovely name... but Optimus?! What's wrong with Oscar or Oliver?! At least his GF agreed with me on that one!
MIL seems meek and mild, and generally is... but like I say, there's something darker simmering beneath the surface! OH can't see it (obviously, as she's perfect) but I do. She p!ssed me off royally last year by getting me to open up about TTC and said she'd keep it quiet then immediately told OH and stirred up trouble between us! She'll constantly play the 3 boys off against each other because she wants everyone to love her most and clearly the best way to do that is by making them love each other less. Crazy lady. This is the first grandchild, and even if BIL does have one (think they're planning on next year) I doubt MIL will get much of a look-in as his GF can be a bit funny.
Great news that Grace got the thumbs up, really great that she's actually advanced language-wise! Clever girl!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -

:rotfl:I thought you were going to say you didn't like the name Noah then

Woah, love that idea! Oooh, OR, what about William Oscar Andrew H?!
Maybe you need to be a bit more 'funny' with MIL then, like your SIL?
Well done little GracieOoh it's always awkward when people dress their babies in gender-neutral clothes and you have to ask "what it is"

:rotfl: I don't know which part of this paragraph made me laugh the most! :rotfl:
How annoying about the wedding numbers Wendz! Hope you get them on lockdown soon (or use Birdie's wet fish idea!) We did a seating plan the other day and OH was annoying me by insisting it was fine to have 9 people on some tables and 11 on others because he didn't want to split all of his friends up. I'm just going to redo it properly when he gets bored of it
Well done Grace on her assessment and happy due-date-birthday!
I was doing really well on JDIJ and lost about 7 pounds but my new scales are super flakey and apparently I put all 7 back on over the weekend (I did eat and drink a fair bit but still seems a bit excessive!) so I'm rebelling at the moment. As I keep telling everyone, the wedding dress has a lace up back so I'll be fine!Barclaycard [STRIKE]£7,296.35[/STRIKE] £6134.99 - MBNA [STRIKE]£4,182.88[/STRIKE] £3267.08 - O/draft [STRIKE]£569.31[/STRIKE] £413.59 - Capital One [STRIKE]£1477.55[/STRIKE] £1451.44Total debt [STRIKE]£12048.54[/STRIKE] £11267.10 6% paid0 -
OH convinced me to find out gender too and was glad we did. Definately will next time to see whether we need to buy new stuff or not! Someone said to me once ahh look at the little boy, oh look hes wearing pink..... idiots...
MIL sounds a bit worrying Birdie! Mine is actually quite good about Poppy and doesn't interfere although she doesn't see her as much as my parents. She has 3 grandchildren 10 doors down though and one on the way. She hasn't ever looked after her though as i always leave her with my mum if i have to.
I need to sort out table plan too. I have tables of 6 and tables of 12 lol oops.
Well done to Grace, that is great!0 -
Tete, I had lovefilm instant. It was addictive, watched all the series available while breast feeding. I didn't watch many movies but they had new ones every month and you had plenty of choice. It was worth the money.
I wanted a girl. Found out she was a girl at week 20. No regrets.0 -
Ok so now I'm thinking of fun initial combos, Like Harry Andrew H, or Fred Indiana Simon H ooh or Andrew Roland George H!
My initials are RAH... it's quite fun when I sign things off as it looks like I'm not impressed and roaring!
Shrimpy, I'm sure you'll look gorgeous no matter what you weigh on the day! I had a lace up back and it was the best decision ever, even got it let out a little later in the day for comfort!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Yay for Grace! It's lovely to hear she is doing so well and meeting her milestones. Hope you're feeling better Dinah, it sounds like you've been doing some really important thinking about priorities. Loved your idea of the cards and putting them in order, sounds like something I need to try!
Also, belated congratulations Flower & Birdie, wishing you happy and healthy rest of your pregnancies.Mortgage December 2023: TBC

Yay, go Gracie! Super clever child
Pleased your scan went well Flower, I'd love to have a boy then a girl simply because I wanted an older brother with good looking friends...
Eep MIL sounds a bit scary deep down Birdie, did she ask to look after the baby when she retires or just demand it?!
I just ate toast then realised the rest of the loaf is pretty mouldy, argh. It's best before yesterday - normally I get about 4 days out of them!

Lots of lovely news to catch up on!
Congratulations on Grace's wonderful assessment and the baby girl news Flower! And to your cousin Cinny, even better news after suffering a miscarriage.
Dinah I loved the thing you and NIM did with the pieces of paper, such an interesting way of discussing life plans and it sounds like it helped make things clearer.
Birdie that sucks about the intense MIL! My OH is his Mum's favourite and it can be frustrating because she loves to spend time with him/us but when I only see him properly on a weekend sometimes I just want some alone time with him but she can make us feel guilty if we aren't sociable. It's hard and I can imagine it's even harder when babies are involved. Do you think you'll end up putting your foot down or just going along with it? I think I'm a 'moan at OH to talk to her' kind of person.
Love the names spelled with initials! OH is Irish and would love an Irish name when we have kids. We were chatting the other day and decided we love the name Aine. Then we were at a party and a girl there was called Aine and I got very drunk and told her we were gonna name our baby after her.
