Sometimes when childrens comfort and safety are concerned, you should just do what you have to do, even if its a little inconvenient, rather than expect everyone else to jump through all the hoops.
And the rest of your message, well, it's a bit dramatic...0 -

I checked in online with Jet2 a couple of days ago and it did state that if there are children under the age of 4 (possibly 5) in the party, that you shouldn't check in online and to check in at the airport to ensure children are sat with parents. Glad it's sorted but it clearly states that you should check in at the airport with infants.
HI,
Where did you read this info? I probably need to go to specsavers...0 -
Wow, 3 pages' worth of replies!
Some of you have been very helpful, thanks.
To those of you happy to pay extra for choosing your seats, well, feel free.
If you are doing your check-in as soon as it opens, and most of the seats on the plane are available, I find it absurd that the airline purposefully splits groups. If I had to seat far away from my husband for 3 hours, it's not a problem. After so many years together 3 hours won't make a difference.
But if you are travelling with young children (my eldest is 4, as I stated in my first post), it does not make sense to put them away from parents, unless you know that said parents will pay the extra money to keep their children near us.
Again, as I wrote in my first post, I don't want the 4 of us to sit near and cosy, but an adult per child would make sense.
If you paid for your seat, and then you are stuck with my 4 year old next to you , well, too bad!
One of these years they will charge for breathing inside the craft, and we will have to pay for air or bring our own masks.
This all comes down to advertising "low prices" then trying to bring up the profits.
And a family of 4, flying during school term (eldest is NOT yet at school, by the way) is costing us in excess of £600 just to go and visit the family for a couple of weeks. There is no way I'm going for a more expensive airline, and although there are allegedly cheaper airlines, I avoid those like the plague.
So, pay the revolutionary tax if you like. They will charge us for hand-luggage one of these years and if we pay like sheep, they will be more than happy to dream up more extra charges.
On the flip side of the argument, do you not think that those who are paying these ancilary charges are subsidising your cheap seat?
Jet2, like any other airline, will have a revenue target for the flight and will price accordingley. They'll be able to estimate how many will pay for selected seats and use that to subsidise cheaper seats.
Without us "sheep" paying for seats, I suspect your £600 tickets wouldn't cost anywhere near £600.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

All subsidise my travelling, and I am very grateful0 -
And I would like to thank you, together with all the Ryanair passengers who forget to print their boarding pass, everyone whose luggage is slightly over the weight limit, everyone who buys "duty free" at airports, or pays £6 for a couple of coffees, on "proper" airlines the very important business people who pay silly money for a slightly bigger seat and better food.
All subsidise my travelling, and I am very grateful
Me too. ,......................
Thanks0 -

Why would you do this, when airlines cannot split families up (well 1 parent at least from children)0
