Not sure. Last time i had it, it was chinese style. It was rubbery.0 -
This makes me SO cross and is ANOTHER money making scam to get more money out of us.
I've had a discussion with someone on Tripadvisor about this exact same issue.
We have 4 kids who are now aged 10, 13, 13 & 15. Once they hit 14 they don't have to sit by an adult. Family holidays cost us close to £6k so if we pay for seats it just bumps the price up even more.
For the past 3 years we have flown with Thomson/First Choice and have always been sat together without paying a penny. But next year we are going with Jet2 and we have been advised to book (pay) for seats. We don't want to do this.
People then criticise you because you discuss it and say that people who ask to move so they can sit by their kids have a cheek as they should have paid for their seats like everyone else!
If everyone refused to pay we wouldn't be in this situation.

Proper airlines still exist, match your destination to a civilised method of getting there, rather than be tied to what is ironically called a low cost airline. As you say if you refuse the situation may change, but it won't as 20 years on the low cost have passengers where they want them and many passengers don't know that air travel can be pleasant so pay for and expect dross.
We have just flown scheduled.
No requirement to check in online
Seats together at check in
20kg of luggage each
Dedicated security screening for families
Priority boarding for families
No constant announcements for the brain dead whilst on board
No 'nickel and diming' once you board
Free sticker activity book for children once on board
Drink and food included
Price was no more using scheduled than a low cost operator.0 -
Depends where you're flying from/ to. My last flight was £15.99 with Ryanair or £361 with Air france (with 1 change).
Tough call - No. Not even with a" Free sticker activity book for children once on board"0 -
We (2 adults in our late 40's) pay for our seats.
I want to sit next to my husband so I pay to do this, I would not be moving for any child to sit near their parent. As I think that the parent should pay for this.
No it's not a way of getting more money from you, it's you paying for what you want..............if you don't pay, then you take a gamble as to where you are all sitting..............and like I said if I've paid to choose my seat I will not move for a child whose parent didn't want to cough up.0 -

And if all else fails, just as you're settling them into their seat be sure to tell them "now then <child's name>, don't spend the entire flight screaming like you did last time and when you're sick try to use the bag this time instead of getting it all over the seats around you". You'll get a volunteer to swap pretty quick0 -

Mum sit with child A.
Dad sit with child B.
Problem solved?
Swap kids half way if it gets tricky!0 -
I've paid to sit with my partner, and I will also not be moving if the third person on our row is a child whose parent is too tight to have paid for seats together.
(Edit - flying with Jet2 next week on holiday).0 -

This.
I fly with Jet2 on Thursday and my partner and I want to sit together. On a 3+3 layout, there is little Jet2 can do to guarantee that couples can sit together without being seperated one way or another. For that reason, we have paid for two seats next to each other.
If parents really want to sit next to their little darlings, there are ways and means of making sure that happens. There is certainly no way that I would accept being asked to move from the seats I have paid for to accomodate somebody elses lifestyle choices.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
