  • You were up at silly o'clock :( hope the sleep sorts itself out soon - you must be exhausted.

You are brave adding your mortgage into your debt figure. I think I would find it overwhelming.

Less overwheliming in fact, it's all in one place, and although I haven't paid much off in the last year, in real terms, it's dropped by 2.7%

I can clear this debt by doing nowt:D

I love George Osbourne (not really)

I've been off topic for the last 10 days and although I haven't spent lavishly I have drifted a bit.
On Friday I went out for a lunchtime walk, I hadn't taken a lunch break all week and decided I deserved one.
I drifted into the £1 and 99p shop, handy that they're next door to each other.
I was amazed that some of the stuff I usually buy in T3cos for a hack of a lot more than £1 was in there.
I went out for a shop on Saturday with DS and allowed him loose with a few £££'s and he was pleased as punch.
He's off to Spree next weekend (camping with the youth church group) so I plan to take the twins over there with me next Saturday.
I'm planning another lunchbreak sometime this week. There's an Ice**nd about 10 minutes walk from the office so I'll drop in there and see what bargains they have - if any.
We don't have L*dl or A*di anywhere nearby, I think the nearest is 8 miles away and I can't be bothered fighting the traffic so I'll stay local.
Looking forward to the new month starting tomorrow. I blew my grocery budget in June, I can't believe how much I have spent. The worrying thing is, how much was I spending when I wasn't tracking:eek:

There's a new weightloss challenge which I plan to start tomorrow aiming to lost 10lb by the end of September and a new alcohol challenge starting. I've given myself a more realistic target this time. I think my target for June was too challenging and I gave up completely when I saw I wasn't going to make it.
I did manage 14 days off the booze though which is incredible by my standards. In one month I have had more alcohol free days than in the previous 2 years combined.

DH has put the kids to bed and we're just settling down with second half of the white queen.

I managed to get to Iceland today and spent £10.50, I think I have saved around 30%.
I plan to go back there around payday (15th July) and kick off my big shop from there.

I'm a bit dubious about the meat but will give it a go in due course

    You're doing really well :T

I love the pounds shops and the 99p shops - they have some really good bargains. Just need to keep away from the chocolate section ;)

Well done Joanne, you're doing really well.
When you say you have no money at all to last until 15th July? Do you mean no money at all? I have a few pots I throw money/change in so that there is always some money in the house should the need arise.
My eldest DD borrows money from me and when she pays it back I put most of it in a little pot. I also save small change, £1 coins, 50ps and 20ps-the £s, 50s and 20s always come in handy when someone needs change for the bus fare etc

I think DH has £15 in his account when all the dd's have been accounted for.
I have nothing in my accounts as I have had to "give" DH £370 from my account this month to pay his car insurance.
We have £18 on household account after debts are paid.
We have a bit of slck on a few credit cards, fortunately most of our cards are now closed having been ratejacked :j:jI know I shouldn't be pleased but I love not being able to spend on them.

We're broke but not destitute. All our bills are paid and we're scrimping on what money we have left afterwards

Just watched a film about someone who had been kidnapped and set me dreaming. I said to my Oh If our kids were kidnapped and ransomed for £1,000,000. I'd give the kidnappers 24 hours then offer £2,000,000 to take them back. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

All kids giving us hell at the moment - are other peoples kids like this or are we just failures.

:rotfl: if only! I have 3 kids, 3,4 & 14 and they are little (and 1 big) monsters too! So not just you ;)

Do you have a pot for grocery & petrol to get you through the month? If so i'm sure you'll be ok (if not I hope you manage!) having a good giggle at some parts of your diary and complete sympathy regarding the no-wine! When I started my DF journey I went through credit card statements and was horrified at how much I had been spending on wine to get me through the evening (after a bad day with the then babies) now I only drink rarely and when I do I certainly don't drink as much (i'd be sick if i tried :rotfl:)

    Do you have pot :rotfl:)

No but if you've got any spare I'd be more than happy to relieve you of your burden.

Seriously, I'm working towards pots but in the meantime, I'm struggling through.
By year end I want to be under £320K and have a couple of pots...

  • hey joanne109 - just thought I'd pop in and say hello! and I hope everything is still going good with the moneysaving and the reducing the alcohol?

I've personally been failing miserably this past week on the whole moneysaving thing - its a tricky thing to do over a long amount of time and I massively respect you for tackling the debt inclusive of the mortgage as well!!

    Take care
