Some people freeze them in tubs of water - so the card is there in a dire emergency but not that easy to get hold of - except of course when the freezer breaks down and that would then be a dire emergency I guess:rotfl:

Would have to make sure I label it or there is a danger I would try and serve it up as a meal for one of the kids!!

£165 to last us the month (2 adults and 3 children).
The next few weeks are going to be tough and cupboards are pretty bare

Still, at least I can cover my outgoings so I am very fortunate.

DH on the other hand cannot cover his outgoings so I have had to prop him up to the tune of £76. He is very fortunate.:rotfl:

Things should get marginally better next month as I make the final payment of £207 to Zopa this Monday and from next month that willl be another £207 not going out of the bank account.
I'm going to pop over to the O/S board for some ideas on how to get through the next month. I have 2 tins of lentils and lots of spinach, I think spinach pancakes may be on the menu for tea tonight and then lentil lasagne tomorrow.

I bought a leg of lamb half price this week, from Mr T - reduced from £23 to £9 and that should get us through fathers day Sunday lunch and a bit more on top. I was going to take the family out for Sunday lunch but have other priorities, we'll have to have a dine out at home.
I'll go into town tomorrow and pick up some veg - either there or Mr T's anyway.

The good thing about this diary is that I know one day I'm going to look back on this post and laugh.

    Bye for now

Fathers day went quite well, I spent some more from next weeks allowance and found that some of the payments due this month are a lot higher than anticipated. Result, I have no money at all until 15th July.
I'm going to have to fall back on the cards but keep it minimal - seriously minimal as there is very little slack on the plastic.

Dinner tonight was a nightmare. DS and I cooked left over roast lamb (about 800g) in some tomato sauce with the intention on having it with pasta.

I had it simmering on the hob tonight when I was posting on the grocery spend challenge and looked up to see DS tipping copious amounts of vinegar into the pan. When I went to chek the food he had already put in fennel seeds and a huge amount of curry powder. The food was completely ruined.
Beans on toast all round tonight and DS in complete disgrace.

The bank account is looking horrendous and I need to check it. I've had to advance DH some money for his car insurance and make sure I get it back by 5th July when my DD's start coming out so I need to check just how much I need to extract from him.

    Back with another update tomorrow

I made a huge pot of BNS and red pepper soup today, it should see me through work lunches until at least Thursday.
I used some stock I made up from yesterdays lamb bones so all is not completely lost.

I'm going to try to cancel my lovefilm subscription tomorrow

  • at your DS help with the cooking. It's so hard not to get cross with them.

I thought I was losing the plot when I couldn't find an entire unopened pack of sliced chorizo which I swore I had for lunchbox sandwiches. Turns out it had made a nice snack for my DS. An whole cooked chicken breast that was meant to be my for my dinner was consumed whilst the fridge door was held open as he looked for something to eat!

I am considering setting up dedicated snack zones so that my meal planning doesn't get blown out of the water by forever ravenous teens!

Just watched a film about someone who had been kidnapped and set me dreaming. I said to my Oh If our kids were kidnapped and ransomed for £1,000,000. I'd give the kidnappers 24 hours then offer £2,000,000 to take them back. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

All kids giving us hell at the moment - are other peoples kids like this or are we just failures.

I couldn't sleep. Not having alcohol has this effect on me.

I was looking at my numbers and couldn't work out what was wrong, my debt is increasing!
Then I realised it was a snowball problem. In the first month I took my mortgage off the outstanding debt then just marked it a paid on the snowball by adding the outstanding sum on.
This has sent my snowball awry, it may only be a 1 or 2 month blip but the figures are coming out wrong.
Therefore I have had to add the sum for the mortgage had previously removed back on.
    Complicated but I get it.
Anyway, a quick thread rename and we're cooking on gas again. I think I was trying to be too clever:cool:
    Off to change sig!
