Thanks very much CR
I've not been on here much, I've been seriously skint and back on the booze.
It's payday tomorrow and a whole new month starts :j:j
I'm too tired to do any extra earning so my way of money saving is controlling the outgoings. I've rebooted the grocery challenge to run from 15th to 15th which makes a lot more sense and fits in with my financial cycle.
It's been bad news on our 3.4%LOB with Halifax. Our payment bounced and we're now back on 23.5% which is by far the highest APR I have on anything.
We've had 4 good years on it though and the debt has come down from £9,900 to £6,600. It's now my priority debt to attack.
It has put my debt free date back by 3 months though:mad:

As agreed with BoS on Friday DH rang them today to make the minimum payment which bounced on 2nd of this month
DH asked about the promo rate and whether it would be reinstated. The lady on the phone said it would!
Is this too good to be true?
If it is our rate goes back from 23.5% to 3.4% LOB.
They are not going to take the £132 they originally said they would and are going to take just £66.
I think it's too good to be true, I don't know if I can wait until the 3rd August to see if they take the lower payment. I may get DH to ring them in a few days just to check.
Other than that, another AF day, some spending on YS meat/main courses which should keep us going for the rest of the week. I just need to go to the market around closing time on Weds to see what I can pick up.
Anyway, closing time on Monday now so off to bed, hopefully I'll sleep better tonight than I did last night

Hi Jo well done on the progress you have made so far.
I noticed earlier that you had checked you electric, but have you checked your insurances to make sure they are with the cheapest supplier too. Rule of thumb is if you have been with the same provider for a couple of years, you are probably paying too much.

I haven't checked the insurance - that's due in January (buildings and contents) so will start that around Christmas.
Tryibng to get OH to shop around on his car insutrance but he wasn't having any of it - he's always been with John Lewis (or at least for several years) and won't change. He had a bad experience some years ago with D***** Line and a cyclist which has put him off any other company.
Apart from that, I don't think we have any insurance (apart from life)

Since my last posting I've been somewhat busy - I've discovered a pile of debt which was unaccounted for putting my outstanding debt up to silly amounts - I can't even bring myself to say how much it is so frightening.
I've been in contact with a loan broker and am looking at a secured loan. We have masses of equity in the house so we're going for a secured loan.
I'm going to talk to them tomorrow.
I know most of you don't agree with consolidation but the main think is to just get out of this mess and defer selling the house (which is inevitable in the medium term) for around 5 years.
We're going for a fixed rate for 3 years and I want to break the back of it within that period.
They do accept unlimited over payments and I plan to make some quite significant over payments.
I won't be putting the closed cads with a 3% LOB and a 7.2% LOB onto the secure loan.
Once it's sorted the first thing I am going to do is cut up the cards and then go cash only.
I'm not 100% happy with this especially as there is around 4% commission for the loan brokers but hey ho, we've got to get the plastic out of our lives.
That's it for now
