    Hello everyone

SFD for me, but tomorrow I will be doing a bit as I need milk and will have a look to see if theres any bargains I can use, Im determined to use yellow sticker for the majority of my shopping, I went into the CO UP the other night and got leeks and green beans (frozen them) for 20p each, nectarines 20p and some bread for 30p:) so I will be seeing what I can do.

    Hi all

So, here we are. Feel slightly shaky about all this, I am so much in need of your support. It all just seems really hard at the moment.

SFDs, will do my best, have managed 1 today so thats a start!
Bulk buying food, I dont do this anyway. In fact I have defrosted my empty freezer today.

    Budget is:
Food £280 (normally £300, really cant get it lower than this)
    Petrol £180
    School Dinners £68
Weekly allowance £120 (£30 per week for any day to day bits and pieces)
    Emergency Fund/Car Tax £70
Clothes for DS £30 (desperately needed)
This leaves me £525 to pay off debts - £210 over the minimum

So, deep breath, debts are currently £21265.78. We are in this for the long haul but my circumstances are likely to change quite dramatically at the end of next year so for now I just have an 18 month plan and I am not thinking any further ahead.

OK - I have paid the extra off the cards. I have NEVER done this on the first of the month before. Off for a lie down now.

    Evening everybody

Good luck to the newbies. I've only been doing these challenges for the last two months but it's really helped me focus on what we need rather than want.

Will do my budget tomorrow as we've been out all day today. Spent quite a t bit but did food shop, day trip to a castle, ice cream, full tank of petrol & parts for DH's motorbike which was all budgeted for. Planning a SFD tomorrow as will be baking lots of treats for the week.

    Evening

I spent some money today, £12, but it was out of last weeks budget so no money spent out of June budget. Not a SFD though.

I will be buying 5 days worth of lunch for work tomorrow and Monday I need to go to SW so no possibility of a SFD until Tuesday. I still hope to have at least 4 SFDs in the coming week though :)

I could buy the weeks lunch on Monday on my way to work and then tomorrow could be a SFD hmmm, I might just do that.

Well I have entered into the spirit of this in a big way..
Stripped all the areas of loose change and into the penny and 5p tin..

Got a call early o clock as my nephew was dropping in for breakfast..He is only 6 tears younger than me !..bought in salt beef ..pickles and bread..was joined by son and g/son...So no cost..felt weird...
Invited round sons tonight for supper..yep..again ..no cost ..even weirder not taking anything..but had to explain..
    So :
    1st NSD ..1 day down..£8 carried over for tomorrow..
No £6 bottles of wine from the co- store across the road.( been doing this for a week now anyway) .so not been tempted to buy the reduced chicken/bread/whatever..that I always have to buy because it's reduced..

Tomorrow promising to be a great day so will be at the allotment getting brown and putting bean poles up..kids at the zoo so I won't be cooking a Sunday lunch or being drawn to the pub for the roast..Fridays Lasagne is already on the menu..
C'mon lets do it........I don't really do the Americanisms but this case it 'sorta' enthuses me.
    .
Also I can't find out now who recommended the iPhone app for a budget helper..but thanks to them for the spendometer..I think it's great..My D.i.L.thinks it's comical...what can I say ?..I found nothing to be best..
    Good luck all..:T

I am finding all this enthusiasm from you Spartans fantastic. It's amazing to read how people's mindset's are changing from what was the norm and how you are willing to take the plunge into the unknown for the greater good...

Yorkshirelass - if it's any consolation I still get the heeby jeebies when I transfer a lump sum. I worry in case I haven't done the calculation right and think "what if"... but this is the best way to go. There are so many things I can live without..( new pj's from Primarni, candles from TKMaxx, magasince about vintage clothing I can't afford anyway ) that all add up.. so join me in the finer biting corner and see how you fare this month. Trust me it's harder to use money that you KNOW is allocated elsewhere than it is resisting the urge to spend pennies that are sitting around. Welcome to the dark side...:T:T:T

I am here at work until 0700. I shall be sifting through the make-shift shopping lists I made on MySupermarket and ensuring all nutrient bases are covered. I am going to attempt a yellow sticker run once a week - at least for fruit and vegetables but otherwise even that might be limited.

£12.50 a week and not a penny more. It's been a very easy SFD for me and will be tomorrow as well. With a planned spend day once a week I am aiming for a whole 26 SFD's and am being so rigid this month.. no overtime came through in my wages so no wiggle room!

Mr Cobes - I am jealous of your allotment fun for tomorrow. My LLL (LovelyLandLady) and I are planning vegetables together and she has a bean pole ready to go up. Lots of foody growing talk on here usually so you will feel right at home... Am glad you are giving the wine a break though - see we are great for your health too...:).. What did the family say when you explained what you are up too??.

NannyGladys - what a super find! it excites me no end finding bargains like that. I only have a mini Sainsbury's near me now and the Tesco is one stop away on the train ( but usually has good items ) although I have yet to locate the discounted section in Morrisons that isn't just bread...? I have been at 2000 and 1700 so I think I might make this my project for the month...:rotfl:

Buffy - tell us what you have come up with?? I am intrigues as to how you have determined your plan of attack..?

Emzilla....:T:T:T for resisting the urge of SHOPPING!!!! I think now when I enter those cute furniture stores that the money I am spending now could be for a piece of furniture that fits my OWN home, the candles would look better in my OWN bathroom, the clothes would look better hanging in my OWN bedroom...it's how I have been able to avoid little purchases recently.. although I am annoyed I didn't start saving for a home sooner than now..

Right.. off to plan my food shop...

    Onwards and Upwards!!!

Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".

You are intrigued? So am I frankly.

I am owed 40 quid and 54 respectively for my trips away. I am slightly annoyed that I paid for petrol and snacks and my friend didn't but hey ho.

    my debt stands at

    4100 on the CC
    1527 on the loan.

    total = 5627

that is still really high. :(

have paid 100 off the cc and paid my spends on my new cc.

after all this I have 460 left. which is it unless I get paid by my second job _ not sure what is happening there so not relying on it.

I have £45 in my purse. I need petrol and food.

I suppose in reality I do have enough money. I just have to make my food and petrol are 20 each maybe?

it is too late to figure out stuff now. at least I have made my payments.

    xxx
    Nevertheless she persisted.
