I am at the good food show in Brum this month, thanks Groupon, staying over also lunch, supper, bar drinks, breakfast, lunch ..My birthday month..so has all the trappings of a spending month..so I have cut my spends to:

    All food/supermarket shopping £200
Petrol £50 (still have 1/2 a tank so that will do for the brum trip.).
    I am due a back wax..£25
    Haircut £11..
So I have now £214 going to be a good one !

I am going to see how much I can save on the brum trip from the £214..but in the 'rules' I was allowed a pre planned trip :T

I will repay my CC £800
I will have 20 NSD..especially if the sun keeps on shining like today !

    C'mon lets do it...

King Leonidas: "Well, that's an easy choice for us, Arcadian! Spartans never retreat! Spartans never surrender! Go spread the word. Let every Greek assembled know the truth of this. Let each among them search his own soul. And while you're at it, search your own"

    Sparta has officially opened.

Let's keep it as strict as you humanly can, keep those pennies tight to your heart and spend them wisely.

My budget for the month is quite simple.

Yesterday was payday, my food budget from my pay will be £90. I had £2.14 in my purse (will add to my food budget) and I rejigged my figures (reduced my Bcard overpayment from £12 to £1 - to avoid minimum payment marker on credit report) this freed up £11.03, £10 of which will be my treat money. The other remaining £1.03 I will add to my food budget.
    So budget is Food £93.17
    Treat £10.00
Debt repayment this month was £1015.32

I have (had) 4 debts, yesterday I paid the usual debt repayments, but also cleared my Capital 1 CC in it's entirety (5 months earlier) and my overdraft, although only a small balance as I have been lowering it each month, it's got to be the hardest debt to clear when it's on an active account. I now only have 2 debts left to pay, my loan and my Bcard. Whoop Whoop!

Morning NSK and fellow Spartans :)

I was raring to go this morning and found myself up at 5am!! Been working since then.

So, my numbers for this month are:

    Food - £90 (for 2 people - it's usually £120, so I have taken off £30).
    Diesel - £80
    SFDs - 20
Planned expenditure - £20 (it's my uncle and BIL's birthday this month, but they only get a tenner each).
    Treat money - £10

I have set my debt amount and hopeful DFD in my signature. I've not really calculated my DFD, but I would like to be DF by my 35th birthday. I won't be able to pay anything extra to my debts this month as we're moving next month and every penny is going towards that at the moment. We move in on 19th July (so excited!!), so after that, I'll be able to create a new budget and then really get to work on crushing those debts.

Good luck guys n gals! :)

    Emz xx
  • Morning all,

I hate how my bank account looks gorgeous for a whole day and then suddenly all of my monthly payments are gone and I'm skint again. But Sparta is officially on. I've got my budget set and I'm ready to get going.
Today should start with a nsd, although I may have to go for liquid gold if I can't make it wait until tomorrow. Hopefully the weather will pick up and I can take the kids to visit grandma and then go to my friend's place for a BBQ tonight.
Have a good day all - enjoy the sunshine (and send some our way, it's really grey outside this morning).

    Morning Spartans!

Pinch and a Punch and all that, no actually wait...we're Spartan's this could all get a little messy!

Hope you are all having a great start to the weekend! I've a few hours of work to do and then an evening of 'Come Dine With Me' with friends (we take it in turns to host dinner with a theme), so tonight Matthew I shall be attending as Audrey Hepburn (In my £2 Charity shop dress and old sunglasses!) Teehee. :cool2:

Right, serious stuff...June's Budget is as follows:

    20 SFDs (Fingers crossed)
£200 to debts today (I'm moving next month so a smaller payment this month)
£50 Food Budget for the Month (I live on Everyday value, yellow stickers and anything family and friends are shockingly throwing out!)
    £80 Petrol
    £50 On planned excursion
    £10 Treat (£2.50/ week)
£50 Emergency money (After clearing my last lot out last month to contribute towards an £850 debt repayment)

Hoping to make a little extra this month to throw at the debts via fleabay and a bootsale before I move.

Anywho, have a Splendid weekend one and all! :D

  • Hello SPARTANS!

I am so up for this challenge. The last two months have been great - I have been really motivated by these challenge boards, but this month I need to kick it up a gear. Budget for this month:
    Food - £50
    Debt Repayments - £700
Planned Outtings - £500 (It's so much money but I'm on holiday, it's my birthday, father's day and my housemates birthday all this month. However, this is a lot less than I would normally have spent and I will not allow myself to go over this.)

More than this-I will be challenging myself to a necessity spend only challenge. I realised that although I was good when I was having a SFD, when it was a Spend Day I was very, very bad! Not anymore.

Good luck Spartans - great to already see the messages and budgets on the board. Have a great month!

    Hi All...

Sign me up on the dotted line please!!!

After a month's absence I want to try and get back on the wagon. Thank you everyone for your supportive comments last month.

May went pear-shaped in a big way! Weddings, car repairs and MOT over and above what I'd planned for; illness and having to cut down my hours and give up my overtime; major work stresses and lots of down days. My budget was blown right away and I just needed to get my head down and ride the last few weeks out. I kept at the gym and ate properly - and that got me through - having something I could succeed at, even when my finances hit an oil slick.

I'm more behind than ever now and had to cut down on what I can pay each month towards debt - but that's ok. I also decided to use a chunk of my EF fund to get me back on an even keel - and that's ok too. That's what it's there for. I will work out my new DFD today.

That sounds all doom and gloom but I actually feel good, and the cloud that was following me around has lifted. So - make hay whilst the sun shines, right?

Because I am at the gym 4 times a week and being super strict on diet, and now buying vitamins and protein powder, and masses of fruit, nuts and veg etc my food budget actually went up a lot. As a result I'm going to try and keep to my old budget of £80.00. Anything left over will go into topping up my 'Emergency Fund' again for now.

    FOOD: £80.00
    SPENDS: £50.00
    FUEL: £50.00
    DEBT SNOWBALL: £500.00
    EMERGENCY FUND: £5.00
    END OF MONTH TREAT: £10.00

How does that sound? Are my spends too high??? I will let Kat cast her appraising eye over the figures and be judge, jury and executioner ;)

    It's good to be back.

Additional: I reshuffled... My spends have been cut from £80 to £50 as I spend most of my free time in the gym/studying. If I want extra spends I can choose to not pay for a personal trainer!!! As it is - that helps massively, and is giving me something to show for my spends - rather than a night on the tiles... but - can't do that and expect a full spending allowance. Bad Abundant!!!

I've slashed my EF fund contribution. Since my overtime dropped I've underestimated my monthly income. There *will* be some overspill, and I will just add the excess to my EF until it's back up to £1000.00. Then I can push my debt repayments from £375 to £500 per month. After all - that's why we're here!!!

Gawd. My DFD is now Oct/Nov 2014!!! That's ok. As long as I clear it BEFORE I am 42 (big astrological significance) I'm happy!!!

Sorted. Time to get tough with myself!!!
