Morning everybody!
Up to 8/20 SFDs... So to make target I would have to not spend at all until 1st July... hmmm! Still, having some SFDs is progress on the last few months so that is great!
I too am trying to get into a healthier eating regime, I was reading some really interesting info (from reputable sources, promise!) about levels of iron in various foods and factors affecting absorbtion... Look at the reference sheet, I'm probably getting 1/4 - 1/3 of the recommended intake for a woman my age .
Tannin is a real problem for the body absorbing iron so I have cut out the morning tea/coffee with my iron-fortified branflakes and swapped for some fruit for the vitamin C! Leave the tea half an hour before and after eating to get the best nutrient benefit, and have some vitamin C with your iron source. I can still have the coffee when I get to work though...
That would also mean my mother's arguments about red wine being good when you need iron are utter rubbish...
Interestingly though, it seems to be triggering me into eating better all round (it has only been a couple of days though, so watch this space!). Maybe cause it isn't "low fat" or "low sugar" i.e. depriving myself of something (something that is no good for me, but that would require logical thinking, not something I'm known for with food), but looking for "high iron" and "vit c rich" naturally leads me to lower fat, lower sugar choices....“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goals.”
NSD Challenge: August 2017 2/150 -
Grocery budget: £187/£240
Fun budget: £40/£80
Holiday fund: £0/£350
ISA fund: £0/£400
Debt repayment: £22/£140 (+£250)
SFDs: 6/20
Well, it's been a spendy few days as we went away to celebrate our anniversary and did quite a bit of shopping for holiday clothes. I did use my holiday moneyy and some vouchers from surveys but the CC got a real hammering (mostly on clothes for Hubby actually as I'd use birthday cash/vouchers for most of mine)
We can afford to pay back the CC purcheases on Friday (payday) but I may not be able to save as much in my ISA as planned this month.
Also need to buy some anti-flea spray at lunchtime as I've run out and we're still battling the little b*****ds so today won't be a SFD0 -

Now is this a intro to a saucy comment :rotfl: as in a mustard sauce ,
I have just worked out 13 NSD . Going to do the target of days easy :j
No trip to Harrogate...but an unexpected call to arms to Blackpool perhaps... might be difficult cash wise
Karma : was going to allotment early...but decided to do nothing all day..son popped round for SatNav..and a jaw...tried to take some of my well displayed goods...I became very protective suddenly...so he has invited the family round for lunch/ dinner later in the week...
Neighbour just popped round as he is suffering with health problems and his daughter needs help getting to the town..could I help by driving them..if I had been at the allotment I am effectively out of touch as I will/do not take my phone... I am pleased I was in to help...the big A fish pie was ok. Mushy peas from a few days ok with it...last of my bacon for brekkie...hmmmmm 12 days to go...planning required for breakfast items...
Mind you..got a text from the nice checkout lady..need to follow that up..perhaps she can advise on the best time for Yellow Stickers..no no that's wrong..she has a nice smile I meant to say !,
NSK I have tried and tried with the pickles..I am sure it has to be me but pickles are meant to enhance or disguise...I do everything I can to disguise the flavour of the pickle :rotfl: will I throw them. Nope I hate waste ..
Ok things to see people to do

Hello everyone
Sorry I haven't been on for a few days but after the funeral on Monday plus all the travelling it's taken it's toll on me. Hopefully I can have time to rest while DS is at preschool.
After spending a lot of money over the weekend, I haven't done too bad so far this week. Spend £20 yesterday on two storage units with baskets for the lounge from fb seller but it was just what we needed and had funds saved. Had a SFD on Monday and today hopefully so will update my sig in a min. Only have £15.47 left for food until next Friday but we should be ok if I plan properly.
Time to put my feet up so I will catch up again soon xxTOTAL DEBT £12,212.46/£2000 paid offDebt Free Goal September 2017#106 Emergency Fund £482.53/£10000 -
About to bake... shall be back in later but seriously Siouxsie that's an MSE day if ever there was one!!! And the tickets!!! So proud...“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0

Yum!! What are you baking NSK?
Kat, thank you for your kind mummy words but think it's the softtouch in me. Although I'm super strict in other ways I always like to think if they do need me to pick them up they can ask and I will if I can.
Quick post as off out in 5 mins. I'm a total womble! Found an empty McDs cup in the coop car park yesterday and yes, I peeled off the coffee bean...
I had something to add but it's escaped me?! Oh dear, this wine tonight with my friend is much needed
Hope you all have a good night and I'll catch up tomorrow

Another sfd for me. Not difficult when there is only 65p in my purse.
I thought May was a tough month, but June has been horrific. Not just on the money front, but life seems to keep throwing me a curve ball or two. Firstly the whole issue with my hubby and his 'single man life with a family when he can be bothered'. Then work has been awful... lots of little things building up there that's making getting up in the morning a bit of a pain.
I really do have to find some way of de stressing that doesn't involve eating, drinking or spending money. If anyone has any suggestions, baring in mind that I work full time and come home to 2 young kids every evening then please do share.
Hope everyone else is ok - nice to see you MrsToast - hope you're managing some R&R.Ninja Saving Turtle0 -
Hi All
A spend day, Dog food, really thought I had more in there than there was????
Moneymash - I really want OD gone, think if I can do it this month it will give me a lift and focus me on the other bits and pieces I want to get rid of by the end of the year.
Wannabee - No cant think of a single thing, I think my stress levels went up about 100 points when I used to get in, my 4 would all want to talk at the same time, I think cake and a glass of something are mandatory when your a working Mum with younger kids- when they get to teens its two pieces of cake a night!!!

Hi all, sorry haven't posted much. Still having dongle problems. Am plodding along and doing ok, not great, but ok. Had a few unexpected (but necessary) outgoings which have set me back a bit, and still spending too much on food. Am really going to buckle down and try harder.0

Hullo Spartans :j
Another SFD today, spendy day tomorrow on: fuel, food top ups and some bits to make a present for my friend's new baby. I'm going to make a clothes cupcake- so I require 1) Clothes, 2) Cupcake cases and 3) Cupcake Box. Also, I hadn't accounted for my Dad's Birthday which is in a week, but I am seeing him this weekend...eep...really want to make something and shall continue to scour the craft threads- tempted by making a customised chocolate slab, although I imagine I would end up eating the lot before it even got close to being wrapped up! I shall be using the money I have left over from my family trip- so no dipping into other budgets.
Noight Noight for now!

I LOVE this teeny tiny little house!:coffee:
