It's going to be a spend day today (but just a little one) as going on a first date tonight!!
Woo hoo, good for you! Have fun0 -
Afternoon - shattered here at LAGL cottage, kids clubs and a birthday party done and dusted by 2.30 today - would get a cuppa but DH is sorting the skirting boards in the kitchen - we laid new lino a little while ago so they have all been adjusted to accommodate squishy floor.
SFD today but not yesterday ooh and I did the gym while DD was in her ballet class - feeling virtuous or at least I was until I finished off the chocolate orange I had stashed
Love to all & Jonesy WOW that has been some week!! Hope you enjoy the next couple of days of R&R before the new job starts.

Shopping day today and spent £53 of the £60 left in my bank but this did include £10 on FIL Father's day pressie, books that Hubby would buy to read himself and would've bought for himself and once FIL has read them he'll pass them on to Hubby anyway.
Hubby didn't quite understand why I was working to such a tight budget. He doesn't get that I want to stick to a budget so as we don't get into a mess again.
Abundant, I can't comment on all the shopping but the eggs seem expensive. I only pay £1 for 6 at Mr As or from the market. Also would it be cheaper to buy a whole chicken/chicken breasts and cook yourself rather than buying cooked chicken slices?0 -
I second the whole chicken idea unless you can only have the white meat.
Is that an organic peanut butter? Could you go for the kilo tubs rather than jars?
Any way you can get berries fresh when in season?

Or just a handful of peanuts?
I saw a 1kg bag of porridge oats in Tesco today for 75p. I also saw spinach for £1 a bag. I agree with short_bird about the market idea. If you go as they're closing up, it's the equivalent of yellow sticker heaven0 -
Thanks for the tips everyone!!!
Yup - definitely ways I can save some pounds there. Some of what I buy is for convenience (e.g. microwave rice - £1.00 per bag). If I cooked up some rice the night before then that would be cheaper...
Berries work out cheaper frozen for me I find...
I'm trying lactose free milk as I was getting bloated (I can hear the comments rolling in about the fact I'm eating enough to feed a small family causing bloating ha ha!)... It seems to have helped. It's milk or bread - or maybe a bit of both so am eliminating them one at a time.
I can't always rely on yellow sticker spinach - and then its shelf life is really short. That bag I buy is a family size one - but I agree - I think I should visit mysupermarket again and compare.
Liking the idea of a kilo tub of nut butter! Thanks!!!
Will spend an hour or two tonight looking at prices. On the plus side I do have £25 on my nectar card to spend :rotfl:
Have a good evening folks!!!

A very good morning / night to you all..
I am sat watching a re-run of a program about Alien Abductees. I am speechless. However at a friends house and it's been an SFD. Mog went to the VET on Friday ad I did a yellow sticker run afterwards....
Not sure if I would call it a successful shop and I think a yellow sticker shop is good if you are actually looking for the item that is cheaper. I was hoping I could save money in the long run by eating only yellow sticker foodage but the fruit I picked up was a little disappointing on Friday... I bought £6.92 worth of food which included a tub of yoghurt and some Tesco pitta's (altogether £1.44 non-yellow sticker) and the rest was all discounted. However the rest (humus / fruit and toms) will have to be eaten pronto.. there were other bits but I think I got a little over excited and should have walked away entirely...although a 31p damaged tin of chopped toms was 20p..
SO...with my remainder of money and two weeks to go I shall not be buying anything more this week bar milk... that means eating everything in the house again. Again.
I am determined to get to the end of this without spending more than £50. :T:T:T
Apart from that I am very boring and have nowt else to report...Sorry...:rotfl:
I shall be reading posts tomorrow as it's passed my bedtime!

Abundant I stopped buying peanut butter jars and bought a 1KG tub.. it's gonna last me ages and Mumsy says if it gets dry towards the end just add a drop of oil and stir.. much better value.. Tesco's Whole Earth was £3.90 for 400g.. I think I paid £5.72 for 1KG....
I will be getting back to you about the rest of the foodage...lol!..“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Morning all,
Where do you all buy these large tubs of peanut butter? I love peanut butter. It's one of those "essentials" like bread, beans, pasta and passata that make me panic if I have none in.
Made 2 apple crumbles yesterday with some old apples and used some past the BBD porridge oats in the topping. Got a beef joint in the slow cooker and thrown in some very sad looking veg with it.
No plans to spend today. I'm suspecting Hubby will want a bottle of wine tonight as we're off work tomorrow but if he does, he's buying it. I've £7 left to last til Saturday and I'll need to buy some salad stuff later in the week.0
