Don't get me started on workplace collections! I got so angry at one office job I had, that the following year I decided to save every email I got with requests, demands, and begging bowls for money for various things. At the end of the year I had about 30 emails
In the end I only gave to the charities as the tenuous links were getting ridiculous: Hi we're doing a collection for a couple who you don't know, they used to work for this company some 15 years ago and we set them up on a date and eventually they got married. This is a collection for their wedding anniversary for some flowers. Yes the couple died 3 years ago in a tragic accident, but this is to put some flowers on their double grave.
So yesterday was a SFD for me, today will also be a SFD, so my total is now 11, not sure how considering the money I have spent, but thems is the stats.
I need to spend tomorrow, I will get prescription and stamp. I think that will leave me with £29.11. I need my shopping in Tesco to come to £30 to use the £3 off voucher. I am not sure whether to do that and get £30 worth of shopping for £27 or to spend in dribs and drabs. If I go for the second option I could end up with some money left over at the end of the month.
So last night at work we got a surprise 'night audit' from manager, only he came with his sidekick the deputy manager, when this happens A) It's an ambush orIt's still an ambush but he needs a witness/enforcer. So it was a thinly veiled cover for discussing the incident with silly and ungrateful woman (work colleague who I tried to help) The upshot was he wanted me to agree the matter was resolved as I have avoided her like the plague since and apparently that's not good for teamwork. I told him the issue was resolved so as not to appear to be 'the difficult bearing grudges one' . The matter is resolved if you go and help a colleague they are rude and aggressive, even though they are in the wrong and then don't apologise, yes then the matter is resolved. Bored now.
Also, it turns out my tricky pay rise letter tricked no-one, not my manager or payroll, they knew what I was up to. My manager at least saw the funny side and I got the desired results pay rise backdated correctly, so all good.Debt-Free day 30th September 20140 -
Spend day for me, spent £43.35 on food which took me over my entire months budget!!! Argh. On the plus side the things I bought we're entirely healthy and I made myself a vegetable curry with spicy couscous tonight and it was a triumph!

Really struggling with temptation over here!
I just thought I'd have a quick look for some replacement black trousers as the ones I am wearing are very worn and have indelible stains... oh I found so many pretty clothes! Feeling incredibly grumpy with myself for getting into this mess and not being able to justify spending £35 on some trousers and a jumper. Huff!
And I just discovered the dog smells very minty... very worried now as the only mint stuff anywhere within dog reach is the chewing gum in my handbag...“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goals.”

Anyone else watching the roaming puddy-tats on BBC 2..? So funny. Think I might turf mine out to fend for herself and stop being an over-protective mother.... I am off to bed with an SFD in the bag...
Lotti I am giggling over your dog.. that's so funny! Maybe he brushed his teeth for once...?
MoneyMash .. I love reading your posts but am SO glad your pay is being back dated!!!

Hope you've all had a SPLENDID day! Friday's just round the corner- horray!
Spend day for me today- fuel and a stamp for my handmade Father's day card.
Still can't believe how excited/nervous I was about finding a 20 pence piece on the floor earlier! Had it been a £1 coin I may have just fainted!
Small things an all..

Loveadove, I get superexcited when I find money, even if it's just 2p
I'm updating my spreadsheet as we speak - I've neglected it for a few days which is very unlike me. I've had a few spendy days, particularly yesterday when a trip to the Apple Store with a broken phone left me £119 lighter! I dropped my phone last week and was utterly lost without it so I guess £119, although an expensive mistake, is kinda worth it. My SIM only contract is £10 a month so I need a working handset! This was an unplanned spend, and I'm not in the habit of keeping a spare £119 anywhere. All spare ££ goes straight to the debt. What I did last night was interesting. I used a credit card to pay for it - it's alright, don't panic. The card has a £0 balance, and the statement was made up two days ago, which means it'll be another month before it appears on the new statement and I'll have a further 2 weeks to gather £119 and it'll be interest free. For once, I'm making a credit card work for me!! There's a payday between now and the due date so I'll make sure it's ready to be paid off IN FULL (Did anyone else hear Martin's voice then??).
One of my friends came round late last night and it was early morning before we stopped talking so he stayed over. When I woke up I assumed he was still asleep on the sofa, but he sneaked out to the local M+S and came back with coffee and croissants, along with fruit and yoghurt so I had breakfast in bed - what a sweetie! So my little stash of porridge lives to see another day!
I'm still limping along with my original food budget. I still have a whopping £35.57 left and we're almost at the half way point in the monthIf I can make time tomorrow I'll be supermarket sweeping, otherwise it will be Saturday.
Ooh Kat, I'm interested in the Clarisonic system as well. I'm not sure I could justify the money to myself unless someone I trusted was able to tell me it's not gimicky and that I would benefit from it. You have my blessing to buy one
Don't think I have anything else exciting to report....0 -
Good morning everyone.
Well yesterday was going so well until DH came home and said he needed oil for his motorbike. £16.99 which ruined my SFD  but I do have that amount in my penny jar at the moment so I can replace it. As we'd already spent I went to our local Express for milk and margarine but also came away with a few YS items. 3 x small loafs for 19p each and 53p for a large packet of grapes. Are these included in my spend day?? I'll assume yes so hear are my totals.
£3.68 - food
£1.00 - treat
£16.99 - oil
Which makes a grand total of £21.67. I'm planning on a spend day today as we are going to the play barn and have the food shop to do tonight. I will try and hit the supermarket for some bargains. Tomorrow I'm hoping will be a SFD as DH is just taking DS to archery and I may have a relaxing day at home knitting a baby cardigan. Sunday is definitely a spend day as we're taking my dad and step mum to frankie & bennys for father's day. All dads get 2 courses for free so taking full advantage :rotfl:

Morning All!
I thought I would drop by as early as possibly before the day kicks off. Siouxsie I still have money left in my food budget ( I am astounded ) but the pull of a yellow sticker run tonight is heavy! I will resist as there is still half a month to go and I have plenty to eat - although a few cans of tinned toms wouldn't go amiss... Am so annoyed for you and the phone.. Mine packed up a month ago but thankfully was still in warranty. I was thinking yesterday I wonder how much it would be to run my phone on pay as you go and only use WhatsApp for texts. Phone calls I make are minimum anyway and in my house it's free landline use for Mumsy calls after 1900... Hmmmm I might look into this more as my current bill is way to high! But I will be getting the tin opener out today and checking how much I have stashed in my "savers tin" from my birthday....
Mrs Toast I am AWFUL at keeping my bike oiled. It's making the noise which makes me think I need to do it tonight.. I am not planning on using it this weekend but might go for a spin if the weather it nice... but thankfully have a can under my bed. Somewhere.
Run to the VET with Mog tonight. LLL said she would drive me as it's a trek through town to another train station with a Mog in a box which I would prefer not to do - then a train ticket to another area outside my travel card.....
Dark clouds looming over London today... I am gonna make a cuppa then crack on with workage...
Oooooooooooooooooooooooooh MUST buy a Fathers Day card today... OH MY GOODNESS!!!
Hope everyone is doing well...

Found 20p on the floor today in town...Half way to the floor to pick it up and I had that very brief moment of fear that it might actually be stuck to the floor.
It Wasn't.
I win...20p!
This made me laugh:rotfl:

Hope Mog is ok.
Expecting a SFD today, no need to buy so not going to.
Going to be a tight week as there's only £60 left in my account til payday next Friday. We're away Monday night to celebrate our anniversary (which Hubby is paying for - BBEM & bottle of wine and use of leisure facilities TZ deal) so if I menu plan carefully and try to use as much as I have in as possible, it's manageable. Wonder if Hubby will notice if I feed him pasta every night? :rotfl:0
