    Hi All

Was a spend day yesterday, the aforementioned Loo roll and milk, and today will be as well, have to get minimum of store cupboard stuff and some bits and pieces for work lunches over the weekend and next week, should have done it all yesterday thinking about it, have not been to bad at planning this month so far, so one slip not to bad,

    Have a good day all

    Hi all

Had to spend £3.50 this morning as hubby had literally nothing to make a packed lunch with!! My Tesco shopping has now arrived, I made full use of the £12 voucher I had but I did notice how much more expensive their stuff is compared to Aldi where I normally shop.

Off to walk the doggie now, then more cleaning and need to take DS1 for an appointment at 2.30. Might just leave my purse at home to save any temptation.

We need to make a trip to visit family, one of those things that cant be avoided, so I am waiting for confirmation of dates from my sister so I can get cheap train tickets booked. Wish she would get a move on!

Have a good afternoon everyone x

Sorry late check in as busy at work but student left now. Never checked in last night either as OH was away which usually means I occupy myself with housework and stuff I neglect for ages till bedtime. Why is it that women as soon as they have the house to themselves start cleaning and tidying etc rather than chilling and maybe having a bath whereas men probably would phone a friend round for a beer because they're bored ;).

PPI cheque has still not cleared so OH borrowed some more money. He better give me about £300 of it now . Yesterday was a spend day (lunch :o) but today is an SFD taking me to 10..11?? need to check.

OH will be back tonight. Not sure what our plans are for the weekend, hopefully just MSE style garden revamp, i.e. shovelling chuckies = free entertainment and exercise

    Evening

Today I spent some money.... again :( It really is a bad habit I need to stop. I bought a chocolate twist in M&S for breakfast as I was too lazy to make something at home, I bought a packet of M&S cheese tasters because I didn't fancy the crisps I already have at home. Maybe I need to start leaving my money at home. I can't buy stuff just for the sake of it then, but there is always a collection going around so I need some money just incase

That was exactly my biggest spending issue. Having my wallet with me at work - the odd packet of crisps, a coke, oh and now that I broke that tenner, some chocolate in the afternoon and a wee top up shop on the my home as we don't have a shop near the house. Now I cycle and don't need bus money and take my lunch and leave my wallet at home. I was frittering up to a tenner away a day (incl fags back then).

Re collections at work. They usually come round in a big envelop. So I either rummage through my pockets, shake the envelope, rattle the coins and pretend to put sth in or just blatantly say sorry got no money on me or I didn't know her/him that well, which is usually fine.

Hello everyone! long time no see (well read). It took ages to catch up.

Ok confession time - i fell off the MSE wagon as quit my job last week.. argh scary! The company were doing some pretty dodgy financial things and i didnt want to be a part of it (basically carousel fraud for those financial ones among us). Anyway, i left. No job. Panic. Signed up to loads of agencies and was pretty much happy to do anything temp/perm whatever. I'm pleased to say i went to an interview yesterday and have been offered another financey job in a lovely company - seriously i could have stayed there all day chatting to everyone. So happy and start next Wednesday.

So I had free time this week and in a stressed/panicked state went for a few meals out and bought a few things on the credit card. Nothing major - i just need to rejig my spreadsheets and i'm still on track for my April DFD. Although i want to be debt free, money isn't everything and i'm happy i left the other role. Tis just a blip on my DF journey.

Funny thing is, despite trying to mentally "leave" this challenge and have a blowout, i couldnt. I have remembered my SFDs and food budget etc. THERE IS NO ESCAPE! lol.

So Jonesy checking in and back to my rule-abiding self.

PS, also relented and let DH have half price sky sports as he's been good at not spending on his "wants"

PPS. i spent 30 mins of my new-found time to compose the mother of all emails to my water company about their shocking service (i mentioned this about March i think lol) - had a phonecall to say would i accept a £50 goodwill gesture - hell yes!

Ermmm... i think i'm up to date now...

No wait - today I also admitted to a friend i couldnt afford her birthday outing (it wouldve cost £60+) - i definitely must be back on the :money: wagon :)

Right i'm definitely done now! :rotfl:

Mrs Toast I am AWFUL at keeping my bike oiled. It's making the noise which makes me think I need to do it tonight.. I am not planning on using it this weekend but might go for a spin if the weather it nice... but thankfully have a can under my bed. Somewhere.QUOTE]

At least you have been organised and have had a spare can. DH wouldn't have even considered it. I really need him to think long term/gradual spends for his bike so it's more manageable.

Jonesy88, sorry to hear you had to leave your job but as you say money isn't everything. I've learnt since I've been a SAHM that it's your home/work/social balance that's important and spending time with the people you love.

Evening everyone. I've done my food shopping today and also took DS to the play barn with my sister. £7.30 at the play barn and £37.26. This is more than my £30 a week budget but I did do a meal plan up to payday (28th) and should have all the evening meals sorted. Will just need to buy fridge stuff next weekend. As long as I do alot of baking tomorrow, we should be fine.

  • Wow jonesy, that's amazing! what a week! Congratulations on the new job, and what a brave but right thing to do leaving the other place.

I had a SFD yesterday, but did food shopping today and bought a couple of bits for the garden in the horrible supermarket - just secateurs as I have lots of branches to chop up so I can get them in the green bin, and a little shovel for... well I won't go into detail. 2 dogs... say no more.

It will technically be an SFD tomorrow, any spends incurred will be parking etc and will come back as expenses.

Sunday should be spend free, although I did spend a bit more than I thought on food for it. I am being a doting GF  and doing nice brunch etc as my new man is doing his first race (running) on Sunday and he has a poorly knee so will probably appreciate some fuss. I've not done soppy/tending for ages and it really is NOT my style but he is nice to me so I figure I can make a fuss of him and it won't kill me :rotfl: Then we're off out to a comedy gig in the evening which is all paid for.

Have a good weekend everyone, and if you are working I hope it's as painless as can be.
