    Evening Spartans,

I'm so jealous of everyone having/going to BBQs. We only have a yard so they're a bit impractical. These are the OS/DFW things I have managed today.

    * All food from stores
    * Found some 1st class stamps when I decluttered the desk so didn't need to buy any to send some cards.
    * Got some pots from mum to pot on my seedlings.
    * DH managed to fix the washing line that broke on me this afternoon :T
    * SFD number 3:T

We also haven't had anything come out of the joint account for a few days so I'm determined to keep it the same until some bills are due out by the middle of the month.

I've also finally cracked DH with his spending. His petrol account has been used by him to buy snacks etc, from the local supermarket while at work so now he's over £100 into the overdraft. He's now realised he can save alot of his petrol allowance for a new archery bow by next year if he's careful. He's even drawn up a spreadsheet to show his progress.

Yorkshire Lass, that's an amazing amount of money to pay off in 5 months. I've only managed £1100 since November but it's still more than would have been paid off by the minimum payments.

    TOTAL DEBT £12,212.46/£2000 paid off

Oh thanks all, you are all doing better than me with the SFDs though! I have actually paid £2705 to the dreaded cards but have paid £774 in interest and balance transfer fees which is shocking! This is coming down though as all but one card are on 0% now.

OH keeps telling me I am getting too obsessed with all this moneysaving stuff and was teasing me today as I was scribbling down what I had bought in my notebook. I dont know whether he was joking or not really but he doesnt seem to get how important it is that we clear some of these debts.

Sarah well done on the day out without spending, makes it so much more enjoyable doesnt it? Off to get an early night I think, busy day at work tomorrow.

£2705 is a terrific amount. Does anyone do what I do when they make an unexpectedly large (it's all relative) debt repayment, stare at the figure and think take that debts!

In fencing terms that would be En garde, marche, attaque
    = On guard, advance, attack!

The above should probably have been a Spartan reference but it's all debt-slaying.

    Good morning everybody NSK..
Mr Cobes.. a back wax eh? Seems like it's not just the girlies preening .

. Seriously...I cannot for the life of me who decided that this was the way to go..My daughter who lectures in beauty therapy and lives in Australia, was telling me about all the guys that have this done..less sweaty, more comfortable blah blah..

So after a particularly hot uncomfortable day and night..I bit the bullet and decided that the silverback gorilla look had to go...

So instead of biting the bullet I ended up biting the pillow..screaming at every excruciating moment..this was in 2006.. Staying with it coz yes it is better and I am not giving it the chance to grow back and suffer the effect again of being flogged in Nelsons navy..with red hot chains I think would be a fair analogy !!

So today is my first spend day re: above then food shopping. All I have left in fridge is baby toms, cue, cheese...at the allotment asparagus about 8 stalks ! And of course eggs from the chicks ..

I am resenting the fact that I have to give 3 days budget to the therapist..but ..she has to eat as well ..soooo..:)

I need some seeds as the mice nicked some of mine from the shed..£15 for manure..but got that on tick as I can pay next month..birthday middle of the month and family determined to make me spend money  we will see how much I spend in Brum first..

Good luck everybody..and hey...lets be careful out there !

I have an SFD question actually NSK - do you count a day as an SFD if direct debits go out, so long as there has been no other spending?

A spend day is over and above the necessary - so and SFD can include DD's / bills / mortgages and emergency medical and petrol needs..

    MORNING!!!!

What a dismal day in London town... hope everyone else is getting some sunshine! It's attempting to push through here though so looks promising... for me to sit in my office and look at..:rotfl:

Please forgive me... I finished work late last night, got home and thought to catch up on two of The Fall episodes on iplayer by which time sleepies were catching up on me.. so I hit the hay with a tired moggy purring her heart out....

Speaking of Moggies - I think Harley should be our mascot too ( apologies to cat haters out there..)..

So I will finish at 1500 today. I am not sure what to do with my day as it has been a while since I have managed to get out at that time. With food shopping done I think I might go to the gym - but I am still tired - or the cinema - but I have to bake..? Hmmm decisions decisions... :rotfl:

Abundant.. I know how you feel about the chips. My colleague got some last night and fed me a few covered in hot pepper sauce. They were SO YUMMY! I was tempted to get some on the way home but my food budget it tiny as it is I can't risk losing any of it to momentary weakness.. so well done you on your resistance and well done me!

So another colleague is bringing me a home made curry and rice to try. If she doesn't I will cry as I didn't bring anything for lunch in anticipation of being fed. I can see this being a stupid thing ... what if she forgets.. I refuse to buy food at work... I'll have to fast for the afternoon although I have a sandwich and a yoghurt that might have to do..

Yorkshirelass - that a terrific amount that you have paid back. Don't beat yourself up. We all wish we could pay more but sometimes it's just not possible - but paying back that much to debts is nothing short of superb.

Mrs Toast - well done on getting through to OH. Must be nice to see him pouring over his little spreadsheet... :T..how's your bump coming along?

Mr Cobes I am so jealous of your little veggie patch. Am I right in thinking asparagus takes a year before you can actually use it - like artichokes..? Hmmmm artichokes and garlic butter...

Sorry folks I have to dash and get some work done... i shall be back later I promise...

    ONWARDS!!!....:)

    Morning all,

Oh dear, my old ginger cat (the one with no teeth) hobbled in last night with a swollen foot so he's off to the vets Friday morning (the first appt we could get) I think he's been attacked like the little one was, it certainly looks a very similar injury. More unplanned expense, eek!

As it's my birthday tomorrow, I need to buy cakes/savouries for people at work. Ok, technically I don't need to, but as I always have a treat on other people's birthdays I think it would be rude not to. Think I'll buy a few cakes and slice them rather buy individual cream cakes, should work out cheaper.

    Morning!

Not in the best of moods as I'm watching my hometown in Germany drowning :( with the recent floods and the waters are still meant to rise.

Plus..OH has borrowed money again (2 weeks before payday ) because May was really expensive. Wait a minute, I paid THE LUNCH and the hotel for the wedding.......

On a more positive note, stuck a massive beef stew in the slow cooker yesterday for tinight and the freezer and did some weeding in the garden. My plants are coming on great but the tomato plants will be too big again. Mixed up the seed/didn't label the seedlings, so after some died I only kept one bush tomato and the rest gonna be 6 feet again. Have to built a contraption to stabilise them more before they keel over.

Will catch up with all the post over lunch

    Tada
