I think Harley should be our mascot. He seems to have survived near-disaster which has something in common with the rest of us dont you think?

So today was spent in hospital with DS for his regular treatment. Usually we buy sandwiches in hospital for lunch then stop at Macdonalds on the way home for tea. I am so proud of myself as I decided to be frugal and yesterday I made a shepherds pie to heat up when we got home. I also got up early this morning to make some sandwiches to take with us. I did spend £5 on extra drinks, a newspaper and an ice-cream for DS but thats so much better than usual!

Moneymash, you have obviously been really thinking about your plans, funny how these thoughts start to grow when you get into this whole moneysaving business. I hope it all works out for you.

Looking at my spreadsheet I should have reduced my debt by £1930 since January. I know this isnt as much as some but I am really pleased. Of course if I could squeeze another £70 out of this month that would make it a nice round £2k. Maybe thats being a little over-optimistic but I can try!

  • Wow I've missed a lot over the weekend - I'm all caught up now, phew!

Welcome to newbies, and old Spartans and new kitties!

I had a lovely weekend visiting old friends in Edinburgh; all spendy days, but that was expected. Buckling down the finances for the rest of the month though!

haven't made my overpayment yet, as I always forget my log-in name for the on-line thing for the CC, and for an odd reason my bank doesn't find it automatically from putting the long number into my internet banking, boo! So will be paying that off when I ge thome tonight.

Right off to inpromptu BBQ at a friends house - is it too t*ght to turn up without wine/dessert! Might make today spend day (it hasn't been so far) and buy food for lunches (which necessary too)

    Enjoy the evening sun everybody!

    Hi All...

Good day here. Today actually was SFD number 3! Had a wicked for craving for fish and chips but bravely fought it back and had some food from the cupboard that was healthy and yummy!

I have Wed and Sat down as spend days, so should hit 6 by the end of the week.

Feeling absolutely shattered so having an early night with a book and a cup of cocoa!!! :P

Went on my (pre-planned) trip to London on Saturday, transport was paid for in advance. My Dad gave us a lift to the station and gave us £20 spending money, that with getting some money back that I had lent that I never thought I would see again (!) it all meant that I didn't need to touch the £20 I had taken out of the ATM to use for snacks on the day. We treated ourselves to a lovely tea and ice creams with some of the money and it was so lovely to feel no guilt whatsoever and just enjoy something. We had a lovely time.

The £20 I took out for the weekend is going to be my spending money for this entire week. Allocating x for food, and y for this and that doesn't seem to work for me as it is too complicated and time consuming (I have a short attention span). With this way I know how much I have and can have a treat or two but know what the overall budget is a lot better.

I have food in so will just be little spends here and there this week, hopefully will be spending most of my non-work time enjoying the lovely weather we have been having :)
  • Hope that you enjoyed the BBQ Karmachilovething. Tonight has been gorgeous. Took the long route home from work via the canal, but it was so lovely it was worth it.

Yorkshirelass - £1930 is incredible! Well done you

Moneymash - surely it would be better to get the compensation now? Unless your debts are on 0% interest, the earlier you get the money the more you will save on interest payments. Intrigued by what your plan is though....

oh, and almost forgot - SFD no 3 for me!

    So my update for today:

    1st thing - an SFD!!!! :D on 2/20 now
Yesterday's food shop came to £3.01, so £3.01/£100
    Spends up to £3.57/£50
    Petrol is up to £89.86/£180

Feeling a little bored of leftover bbq salads now though...

I have an SFD question actually NSK - do you count a day as an SFD if direct debits go out, so long as there has been no other spending?
