I know your sort!
Actually Andy - I was going to ask you to marry me. You sound lovely!! Not sure what my current hubby would have to say though......:o:o - blimey:rotfl:
I would never describe myself as "lovely", more like a younger, resigned, more cynical version of Victor Meldrew, or as my OH sometimes calls me - "Mr Grump!".0 -

You sound a lovely down to earth grounded man, shame about your other half.
The trouble is, I think, that you both gew up with different ideals and now have a different outlook on life. I bet I know who deep down is the happiest out of the two of youYour wife will never have your outlook on life and people because she has grownup with people that think they are the bees knees.
I'm sorry that there is some discontentment (sp?) there, keep your outlook on life, I know who I would sooner be friends with xx
I definitely think that I am more "chilled out" than my OH - I always have been. I have never seen the attraction of having the latest gadgets (they are out of date a day after you buy them anyway;)), or showing off for the sake of it.
Whenever my OH says - "EVERYONE has a better car than us, EVERYONE has a nicer house than us", it simply amazes me, and there really is no way that you can argue with statements which have no truth or logic about them.
I think that life and happiness are all about who you are with, and the quality and diversity of the things which you involve yourself in, and it doesn't always mean spending loads of money.
My idea of a great day out, would be a Summer picnic with a group of friends - nice surroundings, nice people, just relaxing and being happy, maybe have a kick about, or an impromptu game of tennis ball cricket, then back for an evening barbie.
As Pa Larkin would have said - "Perfick!"0 -
AndyGB - I'm still struggling to see what you are getting out of your marriage other than history. (You said earlier that you'd defend your wife to anyone, I haven't seen much defending on here).I think that life and happiness are all about who you are with0

Andy, I think you are a very caring and loving husband. I think you deserve to be treated with respect.
From what I have read you are not and I think you need to have a serious think about this as it will continue and you deserve better.0 -

Cheers folks, to quote Vinny Jones - "Its been emotional":rotfl:
Seriously though, I think that 99% of this is the fact that I am not working, although 98% of that could be the fact that my OH doesn't understand how I feel about the situation.
Being on here and discussing it is probably as good as any counselling session.0
