Prestatyn isnt bad at all sorry  the kids will enjoy it so you will love it some of the op have mentioned Llandudno and Greenwood which are great.
There is a market in Prestatyn and a good Sunday one in Greenfields too.
Rhyl has a SeaLife Centre aswell as a nice prom to walk along.
There will be a Music Festival at Bull Bay (Anglesea)on Aug Bank Hol and a viking festival normally too.
Forget the Brecons,Peaks and Dales. Snowdonia (and area) has much more to offer.
I live 25 miles from Prestatyn and have a weekend retreat in Caenarfon so i am trying with my spelling sorry

    Hi

we are having a few days away end of Aug to North Wales

staying at Pontins Prestatyn :rotfl: which is minging apparently  :rotfl:

any recommendations of nice familiy eateries nearby ? things for family / kids to do ? :)

we plan to go to Rhyl one of the days, as the boys love the Sea Life centre and the sun center ( if we have typical british summer weather & cant use the beach !)

also will prob go to the Mountain Zoo again as really liked it there :)

any other ideas etc would be most appreciated :) esp wet weather ideas just in case ! soft play places etc ?

    TIA

    :)

If you don't mind a short drive (about 10 mins up a very steep hill) there is a very nice pub called the Eagle and Child in a village called Gwaenysgor does some good pub grub, very friendly and nice garden. The management are old friends of mine and years ago it was my dad's pub. I still go there to eat when I visit.

Greenwood is a great place for the kids.
You can exchange your Tesco Clubcard vouchers for deals to get into Greenwood and Portmeirion Village (near Porthmadog).

  • Hi Rachie

I live in Dyserth just up the road from Prestatyn.

I regularly walk my dog on Barkby Beach which is at the bottom of the road of Pontins. I must admit that Pontins looks like a prison camp but if it's just a base to explore the area then who cares? Barkby Beach is beautiful and there are miles and miles of sandy beaches if you walk towards Talacre.

All the recommendations on this thread are great. If you are looking for somewhere to eat with the kids then I can recommend my local, the New Inn in Dyserth but you will have to book in advance as it is very popular but they are very child-friendly.

I hope the weather is good for you as it has been grim up here of late!
