Well, no I suppose saying that isn't selling Rhyl much but I do try my best hehe! Even tho Rhyl does look a bit like a building site at the moment it is all good!0

Well, I am going to stick up for Rhyl now, much better than prestatyn! The promenande has been revamped, lovely new paddling pool with water fountains, nice clean toilets etc. A new park which is great, always packed with kids at the end of the drift park, 2 new crazy golf courses (the one on the childrens village is better that the one on the drift park) and if the weather is good, even better!
We are going to Rhyl in a few weeks time. We usually go every couple of years and use Rhyl as a base for going to various places round about. Will we notice a big difference from the last time we were there two years ago?
My sons used to have great times in the paddling pool there - has that now been "renovated" and can you tell me where Drift Park is? I've never heard of that.
Also (sorry for so many questions) is the Ocean Beach Amusement Park (is that what it is even called) still there.
When we were in Rhyl two years ago we were quite disappointed as we went to spend our last night there, arrived about 8.30 only for it to close at 9.00. Hopefully if it is still there it will be better if there are improvements going on.0 -
Hiya, I'm afraid the fair (ocean beach) is much worse than it was but that is because at the end of this season it is being knocked down and the whole of that end of Rhyl is being regenerated into a proper harbour, a big asda, bars, shops, hotel etc, it going to be called Ocean Plaza but I don't know when it will be finished.
The drift park is on the prom and its lovely, the paddling pool has proper opening times and is very clean, you will enjoy walking along the prom now too. Also all the horrible run down houses are being done up so the prom is looking a lot better.
The fairs in Towyn are very good, especially the Tir Prince one where I think a wristband is about £7.
Where are you going to be staying?
Any more questions just PM me I will be glad to help!0 -
there is agreat tree climbing place on the way to Llanwrst, near Betwys if you fancy a day trip out. the kids would love that if you and them are not scared of heights.

Take the family to St Winefride's Well in nearby Holywell. http://www.saintwinefrideswell.com/ If anyone is feeling arthritic they may wish to bathe in the ancient healing well, which was similar to Lourdes. A small museum houses old crutches thrown away by healed pilgrims. Take some empty plastic drink bottles to fill at the well, and if you wish, some flowers to leave at the well. The website says:
Admission Charges - Adult: £0.60 (over 60: £0.40); Child:£0.20; Family (2+3): £1.50; Student (with student card): £0.20 There are no additional charges to the Interpretive Exhibition or the Museum, or for use of the Audio-trail facilities.... People have been bathing at St Winefride's Well for over 1,000 years. They still do. Pilgrims wishing to bathe are welcome to do so, at the following times, or by special arrangement with the Custodian:
1 April - 30 September: 09.00-10.00 and 16.00-17.00
Another water based feature is Trefriwwells, along the Conwy Valley.http://www.trefriwwells.com/
The company that owns it is more interested in selling the water than maintaining a tourist site, so it remains a charming stop on a family drive. You can walk up to the spring, were foul tasting iron water flows out of the cave, you can taste the water right at the source. When I visited, the charge was only a pound as the tapes on the walking tour weren't working. Print out a 2 for 1 admission voucher before you leave.
You can purchase the water, there is a tea shop. There was an interesting castle nearby along the road, with a small charge, it was too late in the day to visit, so I have no report on that.0 -
Check out www.greenfieldvalley.com the website is a bit out of date (or was when I looked) but it gives you a general idea of what is there, its really nice on a sunny day, not much good when raining as it is all outside. It is not a far drive from Rhyl/Prestatyn and is just down the hill from St Winifreds Well!
Also check out www.funtimeoffers.co.uk for some money saving vouchers for Rhyl and surrounding area. Also if you pop into the local TIC (childrens village in Rhyl and by the Nova in Prestatyn) they should have booklets of money off vouchers for the top 10 tourist attractions in North Wales0 -
And if you click on this link it will show you some pics of the new Drift PArk in Rhyl! http://www.denbighshire.gov.uk/EN/EnvDirec.nsf/d68a90f5e165e3da80256ca90050c9be/19c7300c3509890780257147002f1d73!OpenDocument0
