i agree with greenfield valley being a good half day out but not very friendly for wheelchairs/prams or the people who have difficulty walking imo
mind watch the old bat pushing through Greenfield Market on a sunday makes you wonder if the market has healing powers too:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0 -
Yeah that market gets so packed! It used to be really good but now it is just like "chavs r us!" And the the length of the tailback from there is just stupid especially when you aren't even going there. The other week when it was absolutely chucking it down we decided to go to Cheshire Oaks but didn't want to go on A55 as I have a baby now and the idiots that drive on there so fast in the rain puts me off, so we went the Coast road way thinking "oh its throwing it down, nobody wil bother going to an outdoor muddy market in this!" but oh yes it was still crammed! It took us about half an hour just to get past that bit of road.
Anyway might I ad, the weather is just glorious here in sunny Rhyl today and our local footie team have a European match tonight so I hope the sun stays for that, I don't fancy getting soaked!0 -
well done Rhyl tonight cheshire Oaks is about 10 miles from me and a good place if you are not shopping for anything in particular you seem to pick up bargains you dont really need
Got a head managers coat from the donnay shop for £8:cool::cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0 -
Hiya, we are going to Prestatyn shortly, staying at the lido Beach holiday park, anyone know what this is like?, its not the Pontins place is it? hope not after what everyones posted about it!! how long does it take to drive to Anglesea quite fancy going but don't think nthe kids are up for too long a drive0

The Lido Beach is on Bastion Road which is near to the Nova centre which is on the sea front (check out multimap), I've never been in there but looks ok. You'll have a good base from there as the town is across the bridge and the sea is about 2 mins walk in the other direction. Hope you have a good holiday.0

Hi
we are having a few days away end of Aug to North Wales
staying at Pontins Prestatyn :rotfl: which is minging apparently  :rotfl:
any recommendations of nice familiy eateries nearby ? things for family / kids to do ?
we plan to go to Rhyl one of the days, as the boys love the Sea Life centre and the sun center ( if we have typical british summer weather & cant use the beach !)
also will prob go to the Mountain Zoo again as really liked it there
any other ideas etc would be most appreciatedesp wet weather ideas just in case ! soft play places etc ?
TIA
Hi Dont worry too much about Rhyl/Prestatyn, there is a lot of renovation going on and its getting beter, there is a soft play area in the west end of town called miss mollys playhouse. Its supposed to be very good. also there is the palace fun centre on the prom, witgh loads of those ticket machines where you exchange for prizes, they also have a small bowling alley and geronimos soft play area. In Prestatyn itself there is a new proper 10 pin bowling alley opened on ffrith beach, its very modern, they also do good food there. When looking for food, i would AVOID the hungry horse in Kinmel Bay, it has a Bad reputation and i hated it when i went. other peeople have mentioned some good places on here, i tried to mention the wet weather ones! if your travelling further afield, the Afon Conwy in LLanduno Jct is good, its just on the left as you turn off A55 For Betws y Coed. Maybe then you could travel down to Betws Y Coed, they have a railway musuem there and train rides for the kids (and dad)! Hope this helps a little,0 -

Ohh no, i have to disagree, i went to the Hungry horse last week..I'd heard the bad reviews of it but thaught we would chance it. Granted the play area was closed-only open at weekends, other than that the food was reasonably priced and nice too! The kids meals have healthy options, my 6 year old had grilled chicken breast and new potatoes with peas and a glass of milk and he loved it! We will defo be going back!
I live in the area and we tend to go out at least once a week, our fav polace to go is the FFrith pub in prestatyn, its lovely in there.
For things to do, on Sat/Sun there is a car boot at Sainsburys in Rhyl and one at Tir Prince in Towyn. Go sainsburys 1st then go to Tir prince afterwards..great bargaings to be had at both! She has the loaded handbag of someone who camps out and seldom goes home, or who imagines life must be full of emergencies..0 -
awww i cant believe the bad things said about the Hungry Horse, we always make a point of going there at least once when we visit Rhyl!!

Well the last time we went there (Jan) it was AWFUL!! We went for my step daughters birthday (her choice) and even she comlained and she is only 11. We haven't been back since because we just couldn't stomach the thought of it. We aren't a family of complainers and are usually happy with any food but this was just the pits.
I must say tho the new Ffrith beach complex is great. We took our 1yr old daughter the the soft play area and she loved it. Usually they are based around older children but this had a lot of space for toddlers too. £2 for an hour.
The bowling alley is fab too!0
