The electric mountain is worth a visit if your heirs are science minded types, Greenwood center is brilliant as the other posters have already said. The toboggan run in happy valley on The Great Orme is good fun but a bit pricey for the time it takes especially as the kids will want to keep having more goes. The copper mines are another attraction up there, depends on the mindset of your kids but they might like it. Erias park in colwyn bay has a good swimming pool to take the kids swimming as opposed to the sun centre and there is a free skate board park there as well in the park.
Not sure of your budget but plenty of nice places to eat in Llandudno, great Indian called the Raj in Abergele, they have no drinks licence so just buy your own from the off licence around the corner, keeps the costs down. Nice Italian in Colwyn Bay called Virgillio's.
Newborough nature reserve on Anglesey is worth the trip over, you need £2 for the carpark and take your own food as there is only a toilet block there, it has a great beach and some nice walks through the woods.
You could also check out the Anglesey motor racing circuit to see if they have anything on that might interest them, it is a fantastic circuit, which has just been completely revamped and is a very cheap day out, as I recall kids get in free with an adult but check on this, unlike many of the circuits in the UK you can get in close to the pits and paddock and be pretty close to the action.
Just a few options for you, of course there are the fantastic beaches and scenery but the weather might play a part.Signature No Longer acceptable -

Hi, I live in Prestatyn too moved here from south of england 2 years ago and absolutely love it. There is so much to do and see in North Wales that you will never be bored, although I personally would give Rhyl a miss as I hate it!!
There have been some great suggestions already about where to go and what to do so here's a few of mine:
*Nant Hall - excellent food, Prestatyn
*Snowdonia - anywhere you go is fantastic
*Steam railway from caernarfon to Snowdonia is lovely, excellent castle in the town as well
*Prestatyn carnival
*Loads and loads of walking routes!
*bodelwyddan castle - just down the road
*The Miners Arms, Meliden - excellent food Friday and Saturday evenings
*Venue Cymru - theatre in Llandudno
*Colwyn Bay Zoo
Sorry if I've repeated anything from others.

And if you are feeling really energetic you can hire bikes and cycle over to see us in Llandudno as there is now a cycle track all the way until you reach Llandudno prom - unfortunately you then have to dismount and walk as they can't agree where to run the cycle track!!!
Conwy is nice for a couple of hours - good castle and if you are national trust members, Bodnant Gardens in Eglwysbach (between Llanrwst and Llandudno) I agree you should visit Betws-y-coed (or betsy co-ed as all the ladies of a certain age from manchester call it!!!) and again loads of walks and cycling in Gwydyr forest. Newborough beach on Angelsey (Ynys Mon to the locals)(as recommended previously) is gorgeous - we go as often as we can in the summer and finally(!!) there is a paddle steamer that does trips from the end of Llandudno pier BUT they were saying they may have to stop them so contact the tourist office if you are making a special trip just for thatIf you think you are too small to make a difference, try getting in bed with a mosquito!

What my son enjoyed most about the copper mines was the expressions/ expletives/complaints coming from me when we were actually walking through the mine.
We have been to visit the slate mines in Blaenau Ffestiniog (sorry - no idea how to spell it) and all enjoyed them so decided to try the copper mines for a change two years ago.
Unfortunately I found the walkways through the mine itself got extremely narrrow at parts and started getting quite claustrophobic (I don't normally suffer from claustrophobia) so you can imagine the comments I was coming away with and my son found this hilarious.
I must admit I was quite glad to get out of the mine itself although the rest of the visitor centre was good and we did enjoyed it - I just wouldn't go through the actual mine again.
As well as visiting the Slate Mines, another thing we do when we stay in Rhyl is take the train to Blaenau Ffestiniog where we get the steam train to Portmadoc. Portmadoc is a lovely wee place to visit. If you do decide to do this you can buy a "through" ticket from Prestatyn/Rhyl to Portmadoc which covers you for the train and steam train. You can't seem to buy this online via the trainline - it gives you a price a lot lot higher than the one you can buy on the day.0 -
We had our holiday in Prestatyn Pontins this year despite living not far away (or rather because of that but that's another story) and it was actually a fairly nice camp. The chalet was VERY tatty and old but clean. If I was going again (will prob stick to Haven in future though) I would definitely go for an upgrade. The sofa bed was so uncomfortable that we ended up putting the cushions on the floor and sleeping on that - wish I'd complained really. The entertainment was really good though, kids and adults alike were kept happy all evening. The pool is really nice too. We had a meal at the on site pub one evening and it was really good, I was very impressed with the food and the prices, pretty much on a par with Wetherspoons.0
