This makes scary reading surely the adverse effects outweigh the benefits,if America and all these other countries have banned adding flouride why are we still doing it?

Aww thanks bordera, cardtart and Sheel! icon7.gif

After a sleepless night I wish I'd pushed for an earlier appointment with the doc now instead of waiting til Friday.

So, is it just a case of a blood test for a diagnosis...and if so does anyone know how long it can take to get the results through?

Never having had anything more complicated than tonsillitis before this is all new and rather daunting to me. 23ldgm

I would think it's just a matter of a few days or a week at the most before you get the results of your blood test , it is at my Docs anyway

I had a blood test done at the walk in clinic at my local hospital on the thursday, the folowing tuesday the receptionist phoned me to tell me my cholesterol level was a bit high which baffled me because I avoid fatty foods and exersise regularly, but have discovered since that this is yet ANOTHER indication of hypothyroidism. The thyroid test came back on the Wednesday so all in all less than a week.

It took just under a week for me to get results as well but it can take up to a year to get the correct dosage sorted out.

I finally ended up seeing a specialist and things seem o.k. now.

It gets dispiriting if you think of it as chronic or lifelong so I try not to think about it too much other than to make sure I take the medication.

    Good luck
