So which version is correct ie which has been altered ? I can't believe they could carry out an attack like this and not have blood on their hands, both literally and figuratively.

Im not watching the clips or on news but through no choice of my own I saw the attacker on facebook with the cleaver in one hand and hands dripping in blood on the other...

That's silly. Piglet was posting with utmost respect.

    Respect?

To name a victim against family's wishes?

Yes, at some point it will be published BUT it is their news to tell.

    https://www.gov.uk/government/news/woolwich-attack-victim-confirmed-as-serving-soldier

Still maintaining this stance as at 14:30 today."In line with the wishes of his family his identity will not be released at this stage."

It's in the public domain now so what difference does it make if the name is mentioned on this forum????

Disgusted by these two men, regardless of their beliefs, how one person can do that to another is beyond my comprehension. I'm afraid if our Country hadn't invaded Iraq in the first place then this wouldn't be so prevalent nowadays, as per usual the government start it and then tell us not to worry and that we won't be held to fear and intimidation - easy for them to say with their 100+ bodyguards.

RIP mate, so sorry for you and your family.

How do we know that it was the BBC who did the approaching?

From what I've seen when something really awful happens, neighbours and passers-by are falling over themselves to be interviewed by the press.

How some people could stand at the scene and actually record the crime on their mobiles is beyond comprehension to me.

They still don't have to pick up a camera and film the child, even if the adult is begging them to.

I think the passers by filming on their mobiles is just something we can't get away from now, with smartphones etc.... Afew months ago I had the misfortune to be be in our local car park minutes after someone threw themselves from the top. I very nearly happened upon the body along with my two children, but I realised in time what might be going on and avoided it. You would not believe the number of people leaning over the floors of the car park to have a good nose - I couldn't get myself and my kids away fast enough and I certainly didn't tell them what had happened. Afew of my friends said they wouldn't have been able to help themselves, they'd have had to look, morbid curiosity I guess, but I was traumatised enough just knowing it had happened :(.

I've avoided tv news and newspapers today. Had enough yesterday.

    Jx
And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end

    .

Several reasons why not.... Firstly, because the family has asked for non-disclosure.

Secondly, because some random person posting a name does not make it true... which just adds to the confusion and gossip... all very unhelpful to the investigation and to the grieving family.

His name is in the public domain, don't understand why you are getting at the OP for reporting this.

This is a forum and believe it or not anyone can post any kind of rubbish, be it true or false but no way was the OP trying to be disrespectful, not in my opinion of course.
  • Name of soldier now on BBC website and it is not the name quoted by piglet25 last night.

RIP brave man and thank you.

The soldier has been named as (removed), well Joshua, all I can say is rest in peace because you were 1000 times the man any of those two could ever dream to be, and I send my deepest sympathies to your family and friends, whose grief I can't begin to imagine - sleep tight xx

So the name you provided was wrong.

If someone of that name exists, have you any idea how much grief that incorrect post may have caused their family and friends?

Or perhaps how others who know the real man saw your post and felt brief relief that it was not their family member or friend?

Officials try to prevent leakage until family are able to tell everyone who needs to be informed before the media scrum. They are not being awkward, just respectful towards those who have suffered a grievous loss.
