This new two year free deal, I don't know how to play it.

My one year free runs (with Sky broadband) out in December
My BT line rental saver runs out in August.

Should I get on the free line rental with Sky in August or...? Any tips would be appreciated.

Sky are shutting the BE email and webhosting service from the end of July.

The O2 email was supposed to be cut to 25mb but mine is still 1 gb. Anyone know if this is also due for the chop soon?

MY broadband has been so slow since the change over to Sky, it generally just freezes and has not allowed me to use the internet as I used to. Never had any issues with o2 and before that Tiscali, amongst others...

I had few problems with O2, but Sky is much better, as it's about 15% faster and I've had only one loss of service (half an hour) in 10 months.

I've had no problems and it's been faster than O2 for me too.

Having said that, the end of my cheap 12 months is approaching so I wonder what sort of offer I'll get when I ring.

I've just checked and my minimum contract term ends mid-October, so I guess I can ring late September (O2 would generally offer renewal terms within a month if I remember rightly). I didn't take the free Sky TV when it was offered.

Be great if people shared their renewal offer as happened with the early switcher offers from O2.

The Sky standard charge is 15.40 (landline) +10 (broadband) =25.40 with free weekend calls, assuming you don't have Sky TV. I don't think they offer a line rental saver option at the moment for paying rental in advance.

To enable you to give notice to quit at the end of the minimum period then you need to see what they will offer no later than a month before your minimum term ends.

When I 'signed up' the call centre lady said recommended 31 days' notice so there's no need to calculate for 30/31 or even 28 day months.

I'm wanting at least free line rental or Tesco is more attractive, as they do line saver and a weekend and evening option instead of anytime calls and there is a cashback possibility.

I will cancel tv and am unlikely to take it up again, unless there is very, very good offer, as we managed for years with just a PVR and online catchup.
