By agreeing to migrate you have accepted the sky ts & cs, though no minimum contract.
They are keen to get us to commit to a 12 month deal, and have been offering deals in return for this, so you have nothing to lose by asking.0 -
Well I finally got around to giving them a call. Their initial offer (BB only) was £5pm and a new router. I asked about the possibility of credit, and on checking with his manager I was offered £20. I pointed out that I'd heard others had been offered £75, so he asked the manager again and I was then offered £75 too.
I'll think about it over the weekend, but it sounds pretty reasonable to me.
Having said yes to this offer this morning, I've received a couple of emails from BE about my MAC key (which were expected), but these were followed by one saying:
Looks like something's gone wrong! BT have told us that there is an ongoing cease order for your landline.
The cease date is 23/01/2014. Please check with your telephone provider what the reason is and contact us on 0808 101 3430. Please bear in mind that if our service gets disconnected, we may need to charge you a £25 re-connection fee as we'd need to send a BT engineer to your local telephone exchange.
Now Sky tell me I can ignore this, but it seems rather odd. Did anyone else get one of these?Stompa0 -

Just answering my own question, BE have confirmed that this is nothing to be concerned about. A damn silly message to send nonetheless.Stompa0 -
I have been offered a similar deal (but £60 credit). I was prompted in an email to call sky if I had not received a letter about my 'move' (I had not)
I just read the review of the router (thanks OP) which sounds bad. Can I stick with my current 02 router if I move to sky?
Also read horror stories about peoples speeds dropping after the move (after the 10 day test period) but not sure how commonplace that is?
CheersAs I'm now out of contract with O2, I spoke to Sky today. They've offered me:
Unlimited usage, Line rental, keep same phone number, new hub thing and I thing free eve/weekend calls all for £12.50 per mth and £40 "Welcome Credit" whatever that is!
Also found out you can take your old hub to any Currys and they will recycle them, which is good for the polar bears...
I did feel as though the chap on the phone was going for the hard sale as he kept going on about how it was a good deal etc etc
I'm totally confused, if I could I'd renew with O2, what is everyone else doing? Are there better deals? I've not looked into this yet... I have a mth or so...0 -
I find the Sky router superior to my old O2 one. My broadband is faster than with O2 and the casing looks more expensive.
The only slowing, after the test period, was for half an hour, some weeks ago, but this was also experienced by a friend several hundreds of miles away (so probably a sky adjustment thing) and yesterday, when I had hours of one and off buffering. Not wanting to fiddle, in case of outages, I rang customer service and a very helpful lady did tests for me then suggested I reboot the box (very easy with a large button); all sorted and speed restored.0 -

Thank you!
Also is the wireless range similar for both routers?0 -

Don't know the answer to that one.
According to the reviews there is not much change between the current sky router (101) and its Sky predecessor - though they point out there is no on/off switch with the 101.

Maybe there is an issue with its range which explains them giving away range boosters??
There will be no downside to you trying it out and comparing its results with your o2 one (but all o2 customers who simply migrate (rather than take out a new sky 12 month contract) are carrying on with their o2 routers.0
