12 months at £5 is £60, so with a £75 credit they are paying you to take broadband, so I wonder, if,as above,it will be £5 plus supplements for not having line rental and tv.

    No.

That is a regular offer they make to persuade us to move early. Pay £5 with £75 credit, thus first 12 months FOC, but they aren't "paying you to take it" - presumably after 12 months it just means there is £15 credit remaining to use up from month 13.

just as well I recorded my order/conversation with them last night ...just in case
asked him twice "£5 a month £75 credit nothing else to pay for not having sky line rental"
answered NO nothing else to pay only £5 a month which is covered by free credit

I took the free bb and tv offer, if you take line rental, with a £50 credit. I was not allowed to deduct this from the £119.40 advance line payment, but it went straight into my account and pays for the £5/month anytime call package. Therefore they will have the £75 to spend on the £5 bb and for any calls made.

As I'm now out of contract with O2, I spoke to Sky today. They've offered me:

Unlimited usage, Line rental, keep same phone number, new hub thing and I thing free eve/weekend calls all for £12.50 per mth and £40 "Welcome Credit" whatever that is!

Also found out you can take your old hub to any Currys and they will recycle them, which is good for the polar bears...

I did feel as though the chap on the phone was going for the hard sale as he kept going on about how it was a good deal etc etc

I'm totally confused, if I could I'd renew with O2, what is everyone else doing? Are there better deals? I've not looked into this yet... I have a mth or so...
Aspiring to be financially independent.... from my parents!

For £12.50pm it should be Anytime UK calls. Sky no longer do an evening and weekend offer. It's either Anytime or Weekend although I have heard of someone being given E&W for £10pm.

If it's Anytime calls for £12.50pm that's fine. However many of us have got £75 credit so you could push for that.

Any views as to how good (or not) the Sky hub is? The reviews don't look great, for example:

  • We too are old happy O2 customers, who have been waiting to see what Sky would offer.
Last August, we were given 1 year's free Broadband by O2.
We had a letter from Sky last month informing us that our Broadband contract was changing to them and that we had till 18th Jan to decide.
We rang today, to be told that they would not honour the O2 discount:mad:
Our phone line is with BT and we are probably moving to BT Broadband.

They don't have to honour O2's offers, but their broadband offer is much cheaper than BT's.

I've already been moved to Sky -- apparently in Dec.
Do I have any room to negotiate some deals? I suppose I'm not locked in with them at the moment (i.e. can cancel at 30days)
