There will be no downside to you trying it out and comparing its results with your o2 one (but all o2 customers who simply migrate (rather than take out a new sky 12 month contract) are carrying on with their o2 routers.

Is there any advantage/disadvantage in using one or the other during the 10 day training period?

Assuming both routers have similar specs there shouldn't be.

The training period is to establish the optimum for your line, irrespective of what brand of router is attached.

(Obviously don't mess around swapping them over during the training period, as any difference seen following a switch will be inconclusive)

Got offered £7.50 for Broadband, Free line rental (currently with BT) and £75 credit.. for 12 months. Meaning I end up paying £15 for 12 months broadband and phone.. I would also be moved to the Pro package (with static IP) once this went live in April (ish) to get the static IP I've currently got with BE.. Very tempting, but we'll see, I might stay put with BE until the bitter end.

My switch from BE to Sky is due to take place tomorrow, and I've received an email from Sky saying: "We still need a MAC before we can set up your Sky Broadband please get this from your current broadband provider, then give it to us via your Order Tracker at My Sky".

I can't see any place to give them the MAC via Order Tracker, and surely they must already have it? Is this one of those emails that we're supposed to ignore?

The same thing happened to me.

When I gave them a call, they appologised and said that it should have been done automatically but for some reason has not happened. So, he did it for me on that day.
Your router would not be dispatched until they have entered the MAC on the system.
    So, give them a call.
When you ring the O2 bb, a sky agent picks up the phone. So that number should be fine
I wanted to thankyou a million times but its a shame that I can press the button just once :T

Nooo does this mean you don't get discount anymore if you're on o2?

My router arrived long before I got the email requesting my MAC.

Not after you migrate to Sky.

They give you discount on sky products though (if you have sky tv you pay £2.50 less and £5 less if you have sky landline).

If you agree to join sky early (ie before your migration date) on a new 12 month contract you should get a decent discount (read the thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4473025 to see the deals offered) irrespective of whether or not you are an existing sky customer.
