Then this morning I got rattled out of bed by a text message from Sky with my first bill: "Hello. Your bill this month is £14.75 and payment will be taken on or before 25/12/13"
Cheeky cretins. What about my discount!? Some welcome that is. Maybe I should contact them and wave my letter in their face. Not a happy camper, and only found this thread today as a result of beginning to look for new deals - there aren't any that are any good, as I prefer my Unlimited BB to be £5 or cheaper permanently. (Roll on P-2-P internet and we can all do away with all the ISPs once and for all! Come on nerds, do it. Do it now!)
Check the dates that your bill covers. Literature from Sky tells you that your first bill may be higher as it covers arrears from changeover date to bill date and a month in advance.0 -
just rung sky and the charge will be £7.50, plus the first charge will be £13+ as it covers more than one month, should be back to normal next month,
£7.50 Darth. she is still miffed about the lack of communication and options. still £7.50 a month with no contract for 12 months is OK as previous to the free period ((still 4 months to run, in theory) she was paying £12.50

Cheers T-mum and Stevie! I got the text, jumped out of bed and onto t'internet to find something cheaper on uSwitch; then I came over here and spent 3 hours trawling through this thread before writing my post above.
It was only once I'd calmed down and moved onto trivial stuff, like checking my emails, that I found one from Sky! Exactly as you said guys, it covers part of November, all of December and part of January.
So I withdraw "cretins" (only fair) and replace it with "bad communicators". lol. I'd rather just get the email I guess, rather than a curt text message with only half the relevant info.
But anyway, disaster averted, and I can stay with Sky until next November now - then I'll be doing an Arnie. I'll be back - to find deals when they try to push me up to the full £15. (Actually I should have noticed there was probably an overlap of payments because my bill was £14.75, not £14.99. Bad me!)
Thanks again, guys!______________________________Darth Traderusing the Force of Compoundingsince a long time ago...0 -
And notice you will have a refund from O2 for November/December. My O2 account is shown as in credit, but it is not clear if this will be automatically repaid to the O2 direct debit or whether you have to ask them to do this. Expecting my first Sky bill in a couple of days..0

Generally with o2 you get any refunds of credit left after a contract has ended much quicker if you ask for it, rather than wait in hope!0

It's voluntary switchover day for me, broadband only.
I presume I leave my O2 router plugged in til done.
But how do I know when "done" is? I have heard that O2 routers (like my wireless box V?) still work but don't light the BB light - is this true and could this let me know?
Or does the BB just go down for an hour or so and it's really obvious? !!0 -
Just leave the router plugged in and it will happen. I received no prior notification, only the earlier one that it would happen November/Decmeber. It happened in the middle of the night and I only noticed after I had been browsing for several hours and noticed that I now had a Sky IP address, many people will not have even realised they had moved, it is very much a non-event..0

It will probably go off for half an hour or so .0

had an email from o2 relating to my own account stating that I would have to pay £5 because I have just dumped o2 mobile (previously on 12 month free bb until march). I then rang sky and they offered £5 month and £40 credit for early move (january?), so I agreed to that. My sister will be even miffed now.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. it does seem to be a very bad communication ending to what was a very good service ( o2 ). unfortunately, i think we are now seeing the effect of skys involvement.
i moved over earlier this year as sky offered 12mths free bb if i moved early. trouble is i then cancelled my sky tv package - you can probably guess where this is going now cant you?
When i cancelled the tv side they said i had to start paying for the bb, no i said, its free because of me moving early, no they said, it was free because it was linked to sky sports. at that point i couldnt find the letter but was convinced this wasnt the case and he was convinced it was.
a couple of weeks later and the retentions squad phoned up and i asked the same question, again the same answer, my free bb was linked to me having sky sports. i was told there was no trace on my account of any bb deal.
fortunately, i since found the letter that specifically says the bb is free because i moved early and was nothing to so with anything else, so i phoned up and at first the guy didnt believe me but after checking came back and said when moving i hadnt spoken to the right people and should have spoken to the move team. rubbish!! i phoned the number on the letter, if they then routed it to the wrong folk, not my problem.
after spending about 30 min on the call, the guy did finally agree should have it free but he couldnt do anything about it but was raise a incident case and put to some i.t. team. a couple of days later, he called and left a voicemail saying it had successfully gone through and i would only be charged for my phone.
i am now waiting for the next dd to come out of my account and see what they take.2023 wins - zilch, nada, big fat duck. quack quack,0
