Perfectly within your rights. The switch usually takes 2 weeks so you have plenty of time. Contact your current provider and tell them.

Did you tell Sky why you want to cancel? Tell them you will stay if given same deal as others.

I told them the other offers i knew people had got but they would still not reduce it and to be honest they got quite aggressive and made it as hard and drawn out as possible to cancel - it took me nearly two hours or arguing!

For me Sky have failed and won't contemplate using them ever again.
  • any ideas whether sky increase the speed after the 10 days.mine is estimated at 7mb but getting 3.5mb which is slightly slower than what i was on with o2.

I saw an increase in speed each day which then settled down by about day 7. I got about 14Mbps with O2 and get 16Mbps with Sky.
  • :jIts true, DLM isn't fiction, SKY line speed half of O2s speed for the first day, after two days its back at 7mb download 1mb up which is what I was getting with O2.It seems to happen early am.
    I am now 100% happy:j

I am still using my old o2 router. Will using the Sky router make a difference as my speed isn't any better.

Post 601 - did you not see it?

The Sky router can provide a little extra speed but apparently only for those with a reasonable speed to begin with. I was on around 6.2mb with O2 and currently on around 6.2mb using my Sky router. DLM began on 27th November and although nothing has changed much since the 30th, it's still officially running.

Where the Sky router will be better is with WiFi as it's an "n" rated router as opposed to O2's "g" rated.

Well I'm well and truly peed off with O2. Back in August we struck a deal whereby I would pay 14.99 less 5.00 02 discount for my line rental and unlimited broadband. my Sept and October phone bill's were wrong after a couple of phone calls credits were made and I paid the correct amounts. No embers bill came and it was wrong would they adjust it again no. There are no tapes available from August to listen to my call where the price was agreed. There are no longer any figures of the price agreed on my record and I have to pay what has been charged:eek::eek:. I spoke to one of the managers, after asking to making a formal complaint. I am well and truly peed off with them. I have been a customer for 7 years, never had a problem.

I was incensed ready to fire off letter to of of com to complain. DH said stuff them we'll just move to BT.

Phoned O2 on Sunday to request MAC code, given hard sell by Sky agent to stay, I was so stressed out, I lost it and just started crying and getting upset, he refused to give me a MAC code. DH took over the call and they said it would be sent in 5 days. It's still not here. DH phoned again tonight, you get put through to sky as you press the option to leave, guess what they can't deal with it you get put back to O2 so far waited 21 minutes for someone to answer. It's a ploy.

The service if you want to leave is a disgrace.

I can't bear to speak them they are just stressing me out.

Anyone got any advise, we really want to keep the same phone number so we need a MAC code.

A MAC is needed if you're moving broadband on the same landline (eg moving from O2 to TalkTalk but leaving your line with BT).

If you're moving line and broadband elsewhere as you intend to (say from O2 to BT or Plusnet etc) I don't think you need a MAC - that's what I was told when I switched from TalkTalk to BT a few years back.

You should probably still notify O2 though, but you could do that by email/chat (keep a record if you use chat).

I tried to leave as well as the deal they offered me was double the amount other people got offered. It took two hours of arguing for them to cancel my order - i was within my cooling off period - and to get my mac code. Got given every excuse in the book but i argued and eventually i got there after 'losing it' with them

It arrived the next day via text.

I know its hard but you will get there eventually (with stress unfortunately) prepare yourself for going into battle.

Sorry its not better news perhaps other people have had better experiences but like you mine was very difficult and drawn out.
  • The good - sky TV set up so I am all up and runnin, with all 3 services now up
The bad- just got an email saying that my first bill is £28. 44........
