That £15 pm.which I happy with so I went with it.
    Thanks.
  • I rang Sky and they offered me 12 months unlimited broadband @ 7.50 per month in a 12 month contract.

I then asked about fibre as I have been considering that too.

He said as a migrating o2 customer he could offer me 38mg fibre unlimited usage in a 12 month contract - the first 6 months @ £10 per month then £20 after that. On top of this is compulsory line rental (but I'm still in a prepaid contract with BT for that) so I asked to delay my migration to Sky till next year and he confirms he has sent the form to o2.

So I rang o2 to ask how much my bill to them will be until I am migrated across - they said as long as I continue to top up the mobile every 3 months by £10 the broadband bill will stay at £6.25

The other question I asked Sky was - regarding fibre - does an engineer come out to install it? They said yes.

Sorry if everyone knows this already....

I then contacted BT to ask them about their fibre offers - they could not beat the Sky one even though I have prepaid line rental with them. In fact I gave up half way thru the webchat as it was obvious they were sticking to a script.

Regarding email - the o2 guy told me ALL o2 email is being switched off on Nov 1st and not just secondary email addresses - even if migration to Sky is delayed.

So now I'm having a dither as to what to do next.

I've been off today, so phoned Sky for 2nd time, using the number on the migration letter, and selecting 'I want to leave' option.

This time the Sky rep seemed more knowledgeable than the previous one, or just a smoother operator, I'll give him the benefit.

I asked if we could go over the options again, this time he mentioned postponing the migration.

Previously, I had been told this was not an option, take it or leave it.

He said that he could see from my O2 details why I would want to do this, i.e. to make full use of my 12mths free BB.

We agreed to postpone my migration, he couldn't give me an exact date but did say that I would be put to the end of the migration queue, his guess was around 5 months.

I pushed for a written confirmation, he assured me that a note had been placed on my O2 account, and that a letter would 'probably' follow.
    Move along, nothing to see.

Regarding email - the o2 guy told me ALL o2 email is being switched off on Nov 1st and not just secondary email addresses - even if migration to Sky is delayed.

That is not actually true, as far as I am aware all Sky BB migrating customers will retain a 20 meg mailbox, allthough O2/Sky communication seems to be all over the place on this one icon9.gif

We have been on the old O2 legacy package from day dot and certainly did not want to move (plus we have O2 business mobile discount & landline contracted with another supplier).

We received the letter regarding migration and I have spoken to SKY Olympus team this morning (u spk to Sky by asking O2 broadband to transfer the call thereby avoiding Sky's premium phone number). You can request NOT to be migrated and Sky will put you to the back of the list (it is 18 months from Sept 13' till migration completes). We will remain with O2 as long as possible in order to see how the SKY migration has worked (customer reviews etc also we will not be tied contract wise for mobile/landline) and to view other supplier offers.

So you can stay with O2 (if u want too for the time being) but make sure u have the details of the Sky rep you speak to and what they have put down in their form'. I asked the rep to repeat what he had written as calls are monitored. Any technical or direct debit issues will remain with O2 if u don't migrate. Finally we will continue to pay £6.50 per month for our Legacy BB package.

Next yr we will prob look to fibre BB.

Just called O2/Sky for a MAC code (was thinking of a move to BT) and got the £7.50/mth for 12 months broadband. Also got 10% off my current Sky TV. My Phone Line remains with BT. All in all quite happy as again I am back to the 7.50/mth and the Sky discount covers the phone calls and research efforts!

Neve great to base it on just one case but after migration date of Thursday last week no sky broadband. Fault resolution after the first couple of calls has been woeful with broken promises, conflicting information and general inability to offer anything other than refunds and a wait for another four or five days at a time. No end in sight BT may be getting my business yet - TV and all!

I've recently received a migration letter from Sky offering £6pm for 12 months without a contract. The letter states it includes a discount.
That seems to be the best stand-alone broadband deal yet (ie, no TV or line rental).

What O2 retention deal were you on?

My mother in-law is on a £4.25/month O2 retention deal for the Basic package and her letter states that her new Sky payment will be £7.50 from the end of September.

She should tell them she does not want to migrate now.

See the post #204 from Spud17 above. It seems you stay on your previous deal as long as you stop the migration taking place till next spring.

There is always a contract. Do you mean 'no tie in beyond the discounted 12 minimum term'? Or 'no tie in of more than 30 days within the discount period'? I finds the latter hard to believe-where's the incentive for Sky in that? Are these migration deals personalised, or is everyone getting the same offer? Is the £6 just for the broadband? If so, which broadband tariff-Sky Unlimited?
