I have received this email, has anyone called them based on similar? are they really offering 12 months free? (handy because my O2 mobile contract is up soon and it would give me more leverage when talking to them as they wouldn't have the £5 discount on my BB to wave at me, I am currrently on the 12 months free).
    The packages you want
We've changed our standard packages to give you more of what you want and need. For example, we wouldn't usually offer broadband without line rental as standard but now we do – just for you.
    At the price you want
If you move to Sky, we'll try to match or beat your current monthly package subscription price including any offers that you get. And we'll move you to the package that's best for you based on what you have today. Rather than wait for this, you can call us and move earlier with one of our best-ever welcome deals, like 12 months free Sky Broadband Unlimited.

  • I'm in a contract for O2 broadband till next month just paying 6.25 pm and topping up my mobile to get the £5 discount. I'm in a contract with BT for unlimited calls and have prepaid one years line rental.

If I do nothing what will happen with my broadband when the end of the O2 contract arrives? Will my 6.25 pm carry on automatically with Sky as long as I keep topping up my O2 phone?

I have been looking for another broadband deal but everything is linked to calls and I only want the broadband.

Are there any deals for broadband only?

    [/B]

The 12 months free bb is an inducement to get you to take other sky services.

ie Not just for taking their bb now instead of waiting to migrate.

(Don't think o2 will be bothered about waving the £5 discount, as when Sky take over your bb they won't be giving you any discount based on you having an o2 phone)

When your o2 minimum period ends you will carry on until sky migrate you. (Assuming they don't mugrate you beforehand).

If you migrate to Sky, then you will be on a new contract, though no minimum term, at a price they will tell you a month before you migrate. Prices people have been getting are from £7.50 for the first 12 months.

They won't have much luck, I only pay about £7.50 with Primus for home phone and I cancelled my SKY tv last February icon12.gif Are you saying they won't give me the free 12 months without taking other services?

    Yes.

(Many of us got 12 months free off o2 to stop us cancelling on the news sky were buying them out earlier this year and sky won't honour that deal after we get migrated to them)

just been on the phone to sky/o2

my O2 contract ends in october
my package is allrounder bb a nd w/e eve phone

    they offered me
bb unlimited and w/e calls (no midweek calls inc) £17.00 / month

or bb unlimited and anytime calls £22.00/ month

the free bb is only for accepting another service such as a tv package

they give you an incentive to reduce you overall package by

    advance line rental of £119-40/year

    making the line rental 9.95/month

whereas if you pay monthly line rental it is £14.50

undecided where to go for my next ISP

I hear that they let you stay on O2 until spring 2014 if you phone them, I guess it makes sense to do that.
"If you don't want to move to Sky, you can stay on your existing services until Spring 2014 (when we will be switching these off), but you'll need to call us on 08448 245 480 (from 8.30am to 8pm, 7 days a week) to let us know. Our dedicated customer service team will be happy to talk you through your options."

It depends on what you actually want e.g. do you want to take Sky line rental and then pay more for calls as you will not be able to then use an alternative call provider?

It is all explained here but they would obviously like you to move over to Sky early and take extra services from them.
