Yes, the norm is £15/month if you don't have sky or sky line rental.
Maybe they will offer retention deals when the time comes to pay the £15??
At least if they charge £7.50 to £9 at migration to suck it and see with no tie in it gives us a chance to test it with no commitment.
(As an alternative to migration, you can refuse the migration and stay on the present network till they shut it down next spring - don't know the cost)0 -
£7.50 for standalone BB if unlimited, is a good deal, (equivalent to the the old 02 mobile top up rate) specially no min contract so as you say , you can try the service and leave if you want later.
Specially as PlusNet have increased their BB only charges.
I doubt you can find a better deal for (assuming this this sky deal will be ) unlimited BB without having to take phone line etc elsewhere.
Presumably if there is no min contract (eg 12 months) then Sky will also be at liberty to change fees and conditions with a shorter notice period down the line, which might prompt a move later.0 -
£7.50 for standalone BB if unlimited, is a good deal,......
It seems there is no fixed charge for migrating bb only.
If you migrate BB only the offer is a (small) reduction on whatever the previous price was you paid o2 for the first 12 months. (eg previously paid £14.50/month, Sky price for first 12 months £14; previous £9.50/month, new £9/month), and £7.50 looks to be the lowest they will go, even if we were on the free retention deal.0 -
The £7.50/mth is a fair price, note that I am BB only, Sky BB LLU has a decent reputation. Pre free deal I had been paying £6.90/mth.
There is no mention in my letter of the necessity to take a Sky phone line. That really would be a no no.
The grievance is that they seem to be ignoring the O2 12mths free deals we all got at the start of the year.
I agree Nifty that it's going to take a phone call (or three) to clarify things.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
The contract for the free 12 months was with O2 .
If Sky refuse to honour it then surely O2 are under an obligation to pay Sky for the remainder of your 12 month free contract or keep you on their own equipment in your local exchange.
O2 Wholesale are retaining equipment in exchanges for their other Broadband commitments as it is only the retail side of the Broadband business that they have sold to Sky.0 -
Spoken to Sky today.
As far as they are concerned my contract for 12mths free BB with O2 is irrelevant.
£7.50/mth from 5th October, if I pay, then I will have accepted their T&Cs and will be migrated in November.December.

Spoke to O2 a couple of days ago.
Broadband contract ends in December. Was told that I would be moved to a monthly rolling contract at same price as I'm paying now of £9.50/month, and I'll need to continue topping up my PAYG phone.
However I would need to cancel my broadband with O2 if I ever wanted to sign a new contract with Sky. A bit confusing!0 -
Forgot to mention that Sky have my Direct Debit details from O2.
So if I don't do anything they will just go ahead and take the money. The £7.50/mth is not the problem, it's the failure to honour the O2 contract.
Only had a quick read, but can't see the notice period, but if it's 30 days, by the time you receive the letter it's almost too late to do anything.
I would have considered Plusnet but their new prices are putting me off, also cashback deals are poor for BB only. I'm tied to BT with line saver for line rental.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
If you don't want to accept the new ts + cs just cancel your dd.
Sky took over the o2 contract, not any deals.
What they are doing is introducing a new contract. Accept or leave without penalty. Unfortunately it looks watertight.
But 7.50 on a no tie in deal looks good compared with the rest.0 -
From the website:-
Brilliant on it's own
£5 a month
for 12 months (then £10 a month)
with Sky Talk Weekends (no extra cost)
+ Sky Line Rental (£14.50 a month)
Join Sky Broadband Unlimited without TV and receive a £25 M&S voucher^.
Unless they are offering you the awful Sky Connect BB.
Add to basket
They've never given me this info. They said that I have to pay a £5 supliment if I chose to move to Sky of my own accord as I won't be moving my line rental. Thanks for the info. Think I'll stay on o2 until the actual migration. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
