  • Just called O2/Sky for a MAC code (was thinking of a move to BT) and got the £7.50/mth for 12 months broadband. Also got 10% off my current Sky TV. My Phone Line remains with BT. All in all quite happy as again I am back to the 7.50/mth and the Sky discount covers the phone calls and research efforts!

What is the download limit on the new deals though?

Mum moved to Sky with the cheap BB deal and she went over her limit in a week watching corrie/enders.

The free bait and switch is 2Gb, the awful Connect is 40 GB, main offering is unlimited.

Today had letter from Sky, telling me that I'm being swapped to Sky Unlimited in November/December for £7.50/mth, with no 12mth contract.

It says to carry on paying for my existing services, and that by making a payment after 5th October, I will be assumed to have accepted their offer.
If you're happy to move to Sky, simply carry on paying for your existing services. We'll assume from your next payment for your existing services after 5th October 2013, that you agree to move on these terms
Interesting phrasing, because I agreed with O2 to the 12mth free deal when this sell off was first announced.

Not paid a penny since January, and not had to put anything on paygo phone either, broadband account still in credit by £5.58.

    Anyone else had this letter?
    Move along, nothing to see.

    Hi Spud17

I am in a similar position as you, it seems.

When I initially heard that all O2 customers were going to be going to Sky, I called the O2 customer support line and spoke to one of their very helpful staff. This was around 4 months ago. She offered me 12 months free broadband going forward and stated Sky would have to honour that.

Today, I received the letter telling me I would be migrated to Sky in Nov/Dec and would be paying £7.50 / month for broadband.

I subsequently spoke to Sky customer services and their line was that the O2 staff should not have advised me that the 12 months free would be honoured by Sky.

From my point of view, though biased, is that if a company is bought by another, then any outstanding debts etc should be honoured. But then again I am no lawyer.

£7.50 seems a good deal though I have not looked into the quality of the service, but it really is the principle that I am concerned with here.. That deal got me to stay when there were some good deals going elsewhere. I may not be able to find equivalent deals now.

I guess you need to confirm that the £7.50 won't actually be taken until the end of your twelve month agreement, beforehand.

It seems Sky aren't honouring the 12 months free we got for agreeing to stay with o2 when the sale was announced.

When they migrate, you either agree the £7.50 deal (which has no minimum term) or leave with no charge. Seems fair enough - as it was with o2, if they want to increase the charges you can either agree or leave.

(£7.50 seems a good deal, but are there any better?)

No mention of having to take Sky Line Rental?

THey have said from the outset, and still do on their website you don't need to.

This £7.50 12 month deal (with no tie in) is for migrants (not for those taking up any special deals they are offering to get us to take line rental/tv)

I know that and have seen that.

However as the O2 free 12 months deal doesn't seem to be being honoured ( albeit that was O2 that said that and not Sky), I just wondered if the no need for Sky Line Rental would change as well.

I know that current Sky customers who don't have Sky Line Rental/Sky Talk have to pay an extra £5pm for BB. I therefore don't expect it to last very long before O2 migrants are expected either to take Sky Line Rental or pay an extra £5pm.

I have no doubt that will happen soon after you agree to their T&C - although obviously you could leave if there is no 12 months tie-in.
