    Hi,

I have been an O2 broadband customer for years but took out their line rental when I moved house several months ago.

As I understand it, Sky will move my landline over to their network. I'm getting the sense from this thread and other comments on the forum that this may not be a good thing but I was wondering if someone could explain why?

Is this because it makes it difficult to switch in future as it's a different network from BT?

I have been offered Sky's early migration package: £14.50 telephone line rental per month. Then free broadband unlimited and Entertainment Extra+ TV package for a year.

In two minds about what to do - leave and try to find a comparable deal or take up the offer and ditch after 12 months. I'm currently on O2's All Rounder package with home phone + free evening & weekend calls for £13.50 per month.

I took the same package you mention. Being with Sky doesn't make it any harder to switch in future.

That said, our phone line has recently been down for 3 days - it was fixed by an Openreach engineer today, but Sky's communication throughout has been poor.

Still, the deal was too good to refuse, even if I do jump after a year!
  • I'm leaving it a bit late as usual to get deals,
I don't want sky tv and we don't have cable in our area, any ideas would be grateful, sky are not interested really if you don't take the tv package, this whole broadband/ phone stuff is a minefield.
If I do go with sky and because I don't have cable I take it they can't move my phone to their network ?

Sky do llu, virgin do cable.
  • I was one of the O2 customers who responded to Sky's marketing and went for an early migration package. Initially I pondered about taking Tv but after 24h changed my mind and cancelled the TV bit and stuck with phone and broadband. In all my emails and chats with the Reps, no one mentioned that tacked on my monthly bill , despite £7.50 for broadband I am now being charged and additional £2.50 supplement for not taking a TV package. when I complained to Sky they offered me £5.00 refund but said its in the small print. As yet they have not indicated which paragraph ! Wondered if all O2 customers who switch to TV and phone line alone get this additional charge ? IS it just me as I switched early ? Is it because I refused the TV ? Any ideas ?

You get a £2.50 discount on broadband if you take TV

On calling O2 (Sky) to cancel has anyone been offered £7.50 for 12 months (half price) and signed up for it?

No, but loads of us were offered 12m free broadband back in the Spring when the takeover was first announced.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I didn't take up the migrate early Free Tv & Broadband in June for just £14.50 line-rental as I am still unsure of this loop business.
(got caught out with Tiscali loop)

If you leave Sky can you loop to loop now or do you have to go back to BT for a year and can you transfer FREE?

I am on the o2 12 mth free (and £100 mobile phone cr)

Was that as a result of if you called to cancel? I didn't call them in the spring and wasn't offered this. I need to decide whether to take up the 12 months at £7.50pm or get a quote from Plusnet or EE as they seem to get good reviews.

I already have Sky TV but want to leave my landline with BT.
