Afternoon all
A gorgeous day here - car was reading 26degrees earlier......not a cloud in the sky either.......but just a gentle breeze.
Been to the beach this morning with a friend and her childminding little ones, had a play in the sand, watched the local dolphin having a swim about and finished it off with a lolly in the shade....I do miss not having the little ones here anymore.
Need to crack on with some housework now I'm home, got DD2's birthday party on Monday evening - supposed to be a bbq and trampoline party but the forecast is for rain and more rain so need to get some craft stuff sorted incase we need an impromtu time filler. Really do need to cut the grass and trim the hedges but it's far to warm for me, will rope DH in to help tonight (he hates gardening and would love to pave the entire thing over).
Hope you all have a great day"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Hi everyone!
Hugs to those who need them!
On the OS front today...hoovering, bed making, paper out into the recycle bin, floors swept, sink and loo cleaned. Tonight's joy will be the weekly shopping list and then I'm hopefully going to be able to make the small person a Dennis the Menace sign for his bedroom door with "menace only zone" on it. That's the problem with rereading the TWG again...I'm all fired up and think I'm superwoman when I haven't really got the time to be making HM pressies for the small person's birthday next week. Ahh well already bought the felt so have commited myself [or maybe that's me that needs commiting!!] Fortunately he wants nothing more than a choc sponge with blue icing for his special cake as I'm no Jane Asher in the cake decorating department!!
Am well chuffed after yesterday. To date I've not had any success bidding for stuff on freecycle [too busy working or being on here!!] but managed to get 23 paperbacks by Oh's favourite authors last night and also got shot of my current stack of jiffy bags I'm recycling from work:j
Tea tonight is Potomac pie
Have a great day

Afternoon all! I have decided to take a mini-bus to France so that you can all come with me!
NEWSTER - I still take my hat off to you - I think you must be so organised and it obviously sounds like a very happy home.
TAPLADY - well done on the weight loss!
TRIGGER 2 - hope both your LOs get better soon
LADYGRIM - see note above re mini-bus!
CAZZIEBO - where in France are you going?
PEN - Happy camping!
QUEENIE - I had no idea they had made a film of Clan of the Cave Bear. I won't try and find it, though, because I think the films are never as good as the book. Gone with the Wind was a real disappointment because they missed such a lot of the story out - even though the film is about seven hours long!
CRAZYCHIK - poor you; please take care
MRS MIX - I bought two new dinner services way back in November - 32 pieces for £13.40, and it made me really sort out my old stuff. DH said the new one would 'never last at that price - not the way you bang things about in the kitchen!' but it is all brilliant - not one piece has chipped or broken and I must admit I am clumsy!
LIL-ME - sounds as if you are going to have a bit of a dilemma in about nine days
LEARNING TO SAVE - our place is about thirty miles from Poitiers! Genneton is not far away at all!
SAGARUS AND JOCKET - (((hugs))) to you both.
CSARINA - your lunch sounds wonderful - I wish I'd been there!
Well, DGD has gone home now after spending most of lunchtime helping her grandad clean his car; she loves him SO much and follows him around all the time, bless. He loves being adored, too! He doesn't get an awful lot of adoration from me! He has to earn it!
Well, DILto-be has given me a lovely bunch of flowers for doing the school pick-up and drop-off last Friday when she was ill; I was glad to help and certainly wasn't expecting a reward! She has now lost her voice but I think she's a bit stressed what with planning the wedding in Italy - it was all only confirmed properly at the weekend and I think she was worried that they had been conned because it has all been booked online! Anyway, it looks wonderful and the hotel looks quite luxurious so we are all really looking forward to it. Must pack plenty of tissues! Mother of the groom and all that!
Well, I must go and have a bit of clear up - dig the plasticine out of the carpet and so on; DH has the rest of the afternoon off - he's gone to pick up the bigger 4X4 he is exchanging for his smaller one so he'll be playing with that for the rest of the afternoon. Boys and their toys, eh?
Have had plenty of sunshine today but the cloud is bubbling up - it is VERY warm, though. Lots of washing dry so will have to do the ironing tomorrow. Anyway, will call back later.

Well, I'm so glad its nearly the weekend. Had an exam yesterday which went okay - ran out of time thoughand i have 3 tomorrow so today's plan is to do some work around the house and stuff until lunch time. Go onto campus after lunch and revise for about 5 hours in the library. Then go to the practise rooms and practise for another 3 hours
what a fun day.
Hope everyone else has a good day.

Okay, so I wrote this at half 9 this morning, and my revision plan hasn't gone so wellI'm still at home, though I've tidied up, hoovered, dusted and washed lots of things. I think I'm avoiding revision, dont you? I am off to campus at 3:30PM for a practise, but its still not been a productive day really! Hopefully I'll force myself to do some later

Good afternoon everyone,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHARLIES MUM xxx
Back from Plymouth, and im sat here in the sunshine watching the 2 LOs playing outside - its lovely in this weather to let them have a run about outside!!!
Managed to get everything done that i wanted to, and also kept out of most of the shops, so didnt overspend!! Did spend £25 in Morrisons, but apart from some doughnuts (and a packet of mars planet sweets, oopps) i only bought things i needed.
Need to get some more compost at some point, then i can plant out the tomato plants - think they need a nice sunny space, so will need to find somewhere the children arnt going to kick a ball into them!!
Right, break over, have a great afternoon,
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0 -
Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes. I was feeling a bit down about my half century, but you all cheered me up
I've had 4 hours retail therapy, and feel much better - went into W H Smith and came out without a book, that must be a first. I studied Gordon Ramseys cookbook, but decided I probably wouldn't use it - before joining MSE, I would have bought it without a second thought.
Went into Primark and they were selling off winter jumpers for £2 each, so bought a couple, and slopping-about trousers for £1, so stocked up on them as well. Then went into Wallis and they had 15% off if you took out an account, so I did - yes I know, Martin, pay it off in FULL
DH and I are going out tonight with DS and GF for a Chinese Buffet, you know, the sort where you eat until you feel sick :rotfl:
My sister bought me a great book about making preserves (jams, chutneys) etc so if anyone needs any recipes, just let me knowYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
:hello: Hello!
My last post from Orlando! We are tidying up the villa and packing cases ready to leave for the airport this afternoon. should be back home about 9am tomorrow uk time. It has been quite warm today, in the 80's but with a nice cooling breeze. Just wondering how the weather is back home?
We did the online check in only to find we weren't on the system:eek: so had to phone the airline at Orlando airport to sort it out. On the flight thank goodness but no choice of seats! At least we are together!
Can't wait to get home now and check out how the garden is doing, my friend (who is totally wonderful in looking after both cat and garden) says I have spuds any Lincolnshire farmer would be proud of! hmmm! I planted late so he could be having me on there!:rotfl:
Emmy - Thinking of you re the implants, fingers crossed and just think of that lovely smile you will end up with making it all worthwhile! I might be having to have an implant done myself if the scan and x-ray is ok.
Kyle - Hope your mouth heals soon (((hugs)))
Aril - What is Potomac Pie? Is it made with potatoes?
Jet - Well done on being so brave! Let us know about sponsoring you, I have had ME for a few years now and know that some patients have a really bad time, I have been lucky and can get about fairly well (with rests) (((hugs))) to your Mum.
Congratulations on your half century Charlies Mum:T I reached that landmark last year and it is not so bad!
Anyway must go do some more packing! (((Hugs))) to all!
Hopefully see you soon online back in the UK! (jetlag allowing!)

Hello everyone,
Sorry, not had a chance to read all previous posts (by this time of day there are so many I'd be here till teatime!)
Today is my work day (no, I haven't put stars in to hide the word, 'cos I only do about 4 hours a week & don't mind it at all!!) So I have only just got to the computer.
Earlier on it was DS's piano lesson which is quite a long drive through country lanes.
Anyway, I just realised that I have nothing very exciting to say, but just wanted to enjoy being back here again!0 -
Me again.
Counting down the minutes til 5pm. Two of my colleagues leave at 4, and I'm always really jealous.
My husband has just called to tell me he's making Leek and Potato soup tonight - yum.:j He has a really nice recipe for it, which I will share if anyone wants it. bob me a pm if you do.(will try and remember to come online tonight.)
Signed up to Weight Watchers at home yesterday. nearly £80 for 6 months:eek: , which sounds bad until you work out that its £5 nearly to attend the weekly meetings (each), and this works out at £2.92 a week. For both of us. Hopefully it will do some good.
Only problem is I work in an office where it is perpetually someone's :bdaycake:. Goodies all around. Today alone there are crisps and maltesers on the bank of desks behind me, and doughnuts and goodies on the next bank of desks over. Makes it really hard to be good. :EasterBun
Right, 61 minutes to go. :wall:
