Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Hi,
I can't see a thread yet - but then am still half asleep so will check again before I post!!
I fell asleep at half eight last night - I think all this dog walking and fresh air's tiring me out:T However, I woke up at 4.20 a.m. and can't get back to sleep. I tried to take Benson in the back garden for a toilet break - but he's too tired and just looked at me as if I've completely lost the plot:rotfl:
Yesterday I dealt with all the paperwork that needed looking at and made Delias peanut butter/choc squares and Queenies Jam Crumblie (Did u see that Queenie - ur up there with Delia:T ). I cleaned the fish out and hoovered but there's still loads to do - but then I figure there always is so if I just do my best I can't go far wrong!!
Today: draw DD1s trip money out, get tickets for dancing comp, get godsons b'day pressie, take car to garage (?), make w/bix brownies n banana cake.
I'm also going to start seriously trying to get sponsors for my tandem skydive:eek:
 which I'm hoping to do at the end of July for my 30th in aid of ME which my Mum has suffered with for years.
Hope every1 has a great day and big (((HUGS))) to all those who need/want one.
Luv Jxx

Morning JET – and all who follow!
I’ve been up for about ten minutes; have just had my first cuppa and looking forward to the next one!
I actually managed a very good night’s sleep for a change! In bed by 11.00ish and awake just before 5.00. That is very good for me! TWINK – I know my lavender dose now!
Today, I’ll be collecting DGD from pre-school and bringing her back for her Thursday lunch with Nan but, before that, I hope to tackle the ironing because it’s not a huge pile – yet. I made loads of cakes yesterday which have all been voted a success. Dinner will be spag bol from the freezer – I’ve been on freezer challenge for the last two weeks which is working out really well. Have got through loads of the meals I had stashed away and managed to keep the food bill low this week. It’s so satisfying to do things old style, isn’t it? We’re off to France at the end of next week so will try and run the freezer down for the next couple of days and then do a re-stock for when we return.
DH has part-exed his short-wheel-base Mitsi Pajero for a larger one and will be collecting that this afternoon – he’ll be in seventh heaven; he loves a ‘new’ car to play with. The old one has been great but he wanted something a bit bigger because we quite often take a trailer to France with us – the only problem is that this one is automatic and I’ve never driven an automatic before! He says I’ll love it but I think it’s going to feel too big and I’ll stick to my manual family saloon.
Well, time for my next cuppa and a read through the rest of yesterday’s thread. See you all later!
Have a brilliant day!

KYLE - it might be worth checking with the dentist again - if the painkillers aren't working, you may have an infection. Try and get an appointment; you don't want to be in pain for the bank holiday weekend! Try rinsing with hot salt water, as well.

Hi AMIE - we have an old delapidated house there that we bought a few years ago when property was really cheap - originally for a holiday home with the intention of retiring there at some time in the future. DH now wants us to move out there sooner rather than later and he goes out as often as he can to work on it. I have really cold feet about this because I'm not ready to leave the family behind so I'm trying to put it off! However, after a long talk (and a lovely pm from AUSSIE LASS who understands!) he knows how I feel and we're working on a compromise - I hope!
Anyway, the house is in a lovely little hamlet near Parthenay which is in mid south-west France - nearest airport is Poitiers. We bought it for an absolute song and it needed a lot doing to it; my husband renovates houses for a living and is very good at what he does but, of course, it takes time and money so the renovating is going really slowly! We have a bedroom, a new bathroom and a fairly decent kitchen there now and the next trip is to replace a staircase and make the attic into bedrooms. One of the best things about the house is that it has the most beautiful view and you can sit looking out on farmland and countryside and it is so de-stressing; I find it very good for the soul! We have friends and relatives who live there so it feels very homely and we have loads of fun when we're there but I'd miss the family so much that I can't bear the thought of living there permanently! Our next trip will include driving to Italy on 3rd June because DS1 is getting married there - in a little castle at the edge of Lake Garda! - we'll stay there for three days then drive back to France via Austria and Germany, then stay in France for a couple of weeks more while DH works on the house and I sit and read and write and cook - we always have dinner parties and get invited to loads and it's an enjoyable challenge cooking with French food!
It makes me sound ungrateful to say I don't want to live there but - well, you're a mum, AMIE - I don't need to explain! I love it when we're there but I love coming home as well! I'd love to keep it as just a holiday home at the moment and wouldn't dream of selling it. It's worth a lot more now and we paid so little for it that we'd never get the chance again. We were able to buy it because we made a little profit when we sold our first house. It's a good investment anyway so that encourages me to keep it and it is perfect for holidays because we only have to find the ferry fare and, as we live just twenty minutes from the Portsmouth ferry terminal, it's not too much hassle to get there. It takes about four and a half hours to drive from Caen to the house but the roads are so good that it's an enjoyable drive.
Sorry AMIE - you only asked a short question and I've given you a long answer!

Morning. First day off in ages it seems, well apart from fishing on Tuesday.
Amie: I have a recipee somewhere for almost genuine reeces peanut butter cups. If I can find it and you would like it, I will send it to you. It was almost perfect.
Anyway. Lots of gardening to do today, then school governors meeting, then uncles 60th birthday party. Somewhere in there I have someone coming to look at buying my boat. Hope it sells!!!
Had some great bargains in Tesco last night. 90% reductions!! Ha got some organic chicken breast, was £5.70 for 57p. cooked meat, fruit, veg, loads of it. love a bargain.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
:hello: Goooood Morning, jet, kyle, Kathy and Amie and all who follow
OOooh jet, skydiving!!?? Hope you get plenty of sponsors. Enjoy your crumblies
Kyle, I agree, contact the dentist again!
Amie cold tea is meant to be soothing on sunburn.
Kathy - ah, sounds wonderful! My friends, J&A have a cottage in France which they have been converting. We went there just before Christmas, lovely place and barely any traffic for miles either. They were also thinking of moving out permanently, sadly for them, that's not going to happen now.
Another gorgeous looking morning in QueenieLand. Lads Dad will be around soon to continue with putting the furniture together; I have laundry and housework basics to be getting on with and I need to remove the old hard drive from the old PC which was in the boys room before it can be disposed of.
:shhh: Need to think about making a cake for d12yo's birthday next Tuesday, and whack it in the freezer so he doesn't see it :silenced:
Have a lovely day everyone, ((hugs)) for those who need/want one:wave:
