    Happy Birthday Charlies mum! :)

Well, I'm so glad its nearly the weekend. Had an exam yesterday which went okay - ran out of time though :( and i have 3 tomorrow so today's plan is to do some work around the house and stuff until lunch time. Go onto campus after lunch and revise for about 5 hours in the library. Then go to the practise rooms and practise for another 3 hours :p what a fun day.
Hope everyone else has a good day.

    Morning everyone

Where's this sunshine everyone on the local radio has been talking about?! I am waiting for it before walking into the village and it's not co-operating!

Planting out more seedlings today, go to post office, go to farm shop then OH is coming home early and we're off out to buy him a new dinner jacket for a black tie wedding in a few weeks. His old one is too small  He says it must have shrunk :D

Hope everyone has a fab day, hugs to anyone who needs one x

    Hello again

nipped to asda for milk and was a bit naughty they had dinner services reduced to £2.13 for a 12 place setting so i got one and I'm going to sort out the old chipped and tatty stuff

Morning all hope everyone is well, hugs to those who are not, what a night we had last night, pull up a chair and I'll explain, or ignore the waffle if you like :rotfl:

Last night was the most bizarre night ever, we had a call from my sister saying the RSPCA had been trying to contact me about a missing dog found, microchipped with my details. When we found out what was going on it was a dog we'd looked after for the police 7 years ago.

She's been found tied up outside a vets surgery. This has sent my partner into a complete turmoil, he had her from a puppy 9 years ago. He was ready to go down and collect her immediately, but the kennels as they know we haven't had her for so long have said she has to stay there for 9 days to allow her owner to come forward. They now have my details, if in 9 days she is not collected my partner wants to go and get her! I'm in 2 minds, emotionally it's as if a pet has died, buried it then been told it's alive again, but trying to think practically. The way he put it was - I don't want her being put to sleep because of lack of a home or spending her last years in a kennel.

How my other dogs will react to her and she will react to them I don't know, cross that bridge if we come to it I think.

Off to the pet board to post this and get some advice I think
One day I might be more organised...........

    mioliere,
it is gorgeous in that region of france isnt it!
my in laws retired out there a few years ago.............much the same as you they bought a property about 10 years ago now for practically nothing asnd my fil did it up.we go there every year for pour holidays and love it!
not sure about parthenay-exactly where it is but sounds like it must be somewhere near as if we fly it is into poitier and if we get the ferry it takes 4.5/5 hours to drive to the house!
they live in a small town called genneton.

Hi AMIE - we have an old delapidated house there that we bought a few years ago when property was really cheap - originally for a holiday home with the intention of retiring there at some time in the future. DH now wants us to move out there sooner rather than later and he goes out as often as he can to work on it. I have really cold feet about this because I'm not ready to leave the family behind so I'm trying to put it off! However, after a long talk (and a lovely pm from AUSSIE LASS who understands!) he knows how I feel and we're working on a compromise - I hope!
Anyway, the house is in a lovely little hamlet near Parthenay which is in mid south-west France - nearest airport is Poitiers. We bought it for an absolute song and it needed a lot doing to it; my husband renovates houses for a living and is very good at what he does but, of course, it takes time and money so the renovating is going really slowly! We have a bedroom, a new bathroom and a fairly decent kitchen there now and the next trip is to replace a staircase and make the attic into bedrooms. One of the best things about the house is that it has the most beautiful view and you can sit looking out on farmland and countryside and it is so de-stressing; I find it very good for the soul! We have friends and relatives who live there so it feels very homely and we have loads of fun when we're there but I'd miss the family so much that I can't bear the thought of living there permanently! Our next trip will include driving to Italy on 3rd June because DS1 is getting married there - in a little castle at the edge of Lake Garda! - we'll stay there for three days then drive back to France via Austria and Germany, then stay in France for a couple of weeks more while DH works on the house and I sit and read and write and cook - we always have dinner parties and get invited to loads and it's an enjoyable challenge cooking with French food!
It makes me sound ungrateful to say I don't want to live there but - well, you're a mum, AMIE - I don't need to explain! I love it when we're there but I love coming home as well! I'd love to keep it as just a holiday home at the moment and wouldn't dream of selling it. It's worth a lot more now and we paid so little for it that we'd never get the chance again. We were able to buy it because we made a little profit when we sold our first house. It's a good investment anyway so that encourages me to keep it and it is perfect for holidays because we only have to find the ferry fare and, as we live just twenty minutes from the Portsmouth ferry terminal, it's not too much hassle to get there. It takes about four and a half hours to drive from Caen to the house but the roads are so good that it's an enjoyable drive.
Sorry AMIE - you only asked a short question and I've given you a long answer!

The hamlet is called La Mioliere - hence my MSE name!

    Hello everyone!
I don't usually post on here during the day, but I'm off work with an ear problem that is affecting my balance - so I can't post on here and say how virtuous I've been with housework etc - if I stand up for too long or walk very far, I fall over!
I have got a bit of washing out on the line as I don't want to vegetate - even reading or being on the PC is enough to make me dizzy!
Nice to see everyone on here though, and many happy returns to charlie's mum!
    :j Almost 2 stones gone! :j
