Buy something on arrival. The locals know what is best. Wearing a lemon smelling cologne also helps keeps little b...s away
I´d also invest in the liquid type plug in mossie repellents to use during the night in the room.

Avon`s skin-so-soft is cheaper on ebay than the avon website. i use a seller called gailsavon and she is first class. the stuff works first class.

I used to live in Cyprus and the mossies loved me - that was until my Mum discovered Cintronella oil. She was advised to put it on my pulse points and hey presto no more bites. I've since used it in Kenya and India etc and can't praise it enough. The only thing I would mention is that you get the oil that you can use on your skin, as there are quite a few Citronella products on the market. Also don't know if anyone has mentioned avoid wearing perfume, mossies love it. Hope info helps.

This was in my local free paper. It had a good write-up. Insect Repellant patches.

  • Have a look at the product on this site; http://www.alfresco.uk.com/index.html it is recommended by The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and in particular for people with sensitive skin. My wife and used it when we visited India & Thailand a few years ago and we can both vouch for it being the most effective repellent we have used. Prior to we used Deet which we had a lot of scary stories about but at that time there was no alternatives, and by the way it stank!

If you really want to keep the bugs away and you are allergic to bites do buy some, it looks expensive but I think well worth the money (buy the smaller bottles so you have one each and a couple spare). You may want to telephone the order through as I think the web order page is broken, it has for me. Let us all know how you get on please.

I'm back from Corfu ( scortching ) and no mosquito bites. Used the Avon stuff, Citronella candles and Soltan sun cream with mosquito repellent.
I won't be using the Soltan stuff again as it stained a lot of my clothes.

If you are heading to Greece, there is a good mosquito repellent you can buy at any pharmacy, its made from lemons. Sorry, I can't remember the name.
