What I'd like to know is whether there are further complications with claiming back credit card or bank charges etc if you are in arrears and have come to some (temporary &/or token) repayment agreement with them. eg I owe 1 credit card £7500 and they've been really good, considering how bloody-minded others have been, so if I claim the charges back thus reducing my total owed are they then likely to get uppity and sell the debt on to less "friendly" debt coll agencies (such as 1st credit)? Has anyone got any experience of this? Or also of doing it once the debt has been sold on?0

Hi,
I am new to all this but would appreciate a bit of advice.
I am in the process of looking into how to claim back charges for late payments and over limit fee on my credit cards.
I still have balances on my cards, is it wise to claim now or should I wsit till I have paid them off?
Also would the credit card company close my account once tried to claim? As I have balances on the cards i dont want to claim if they close the account as i dont have the full funds to pay them off in a lump sum.
Sorry if some has already asked
Thanks in advance0 -
i sent my letter to natwest credit cards over two weeks ago and have heard nothing, thought i'd give them a call to see what's happening, called them today, they said that they have no trace of my card number and because i closed the credit card over 6 months ago i am not entitled to claim because they don't hold my information any longer! they said that my information must have come from experian and then hung up on me! is this correct or can i still claim my late fees etc?0

DId you send your Data Protection Request by recorded delivery?
If so, wait the 40 days and then complain to the Information Commissioner. Follow up to the bank, let them know they're in breach and tell them you will use the court to force them to disclose this information.0 -
they already sent a spreadsheet of the charges!!!! this is what they said must have come from experian!0
