Hi thanks for the prompt reply! I am a newcomer here!
No I do not have a list of the charges but I have the account numbers and was thinking that maybe I could request a list of charges using the template letter in this website.

I just received the typical sorry our charges are fair letter, now go away. I decided to phone them and ask them to review the circumstances. I could not even finish my sentence and I was offered the 2nd letter which is the difference between the charge and the £12 rate. I am now in the situation of do I accept the difference or do I go for everything, difference being £300 I have not considered court action YET. Has anyone else been in the same situation and do you think it would be worth phoning again to try and negotiate a higher figure. Thanks0

Hi. I am going through the process of reclaimig bank charges from Natwest and it's got me thinking. I had a real bad time with a goldfish card a few years back literally thousands of pounds in charges. Does anybody on these pages know if I can claim these charges Back? Apologies in advance if the answer is on these pages. I've had a pretty good look but can't seem to find much info on credit card charges specificly. Many thanks. and three cheers for Martin Lewis.

Yes, you can claim credit card late payment charges.
Even the Office of Fair Trading’s figure of £12 is still “extravagantly” higher than the cost of automatically administering a late payment and therefore unlawful. All that happens is that the computer adds the charge to your account. I didn't even get a standard letter.
You can use the letter templates for bank charges with a little bit of customisation. The credit card companies try to use the OFT’s ruling as a justification that the charges are correct. They may offer the difference between the current £12 charge and any older and higher charges.
Unfortunately, the Financial Ombudsman will also only request the difference between the current £12 charge and any older and higher charges so is not an alternative to court proceedings for these claims.

Doubt you would get any more mate seems they are playing hardball with everyone, if your prepared to go to court I would do but then again you need to decide how much the full amount is including the £300 & without it, personally Id go for the lot, I am with Cap1 the (pleasantries)Official DFW Member 587 :T0
