Can I claim from credit card

Hi
I thought that when i sent my letters to all of my credit card companies that I wouldnt send the £10 fee for the statements as I didnt have the money to do so, the other reason is that i have read that the companies sometimes send the fee back to the claimant anyway, thought id save them and me the trouble!!
However, I think this may backfire on me, as the letter requesting statement information gives the company 40 days to reply.
WILL THE CREDIT CARD COMPANIES MAKE ME WAIT 40 DAYS AND THEN REQUEST THE £10 FEE FROM ME???
what should i do??
Thanks0 -
Hello, I am in the process of claiming back approx 2,000 from hsbc, still in the ''8 week'' waiting period, I was wondering what the chances were of re-claiming charges from credit cards, I have 4 debts that are currently with the cccs (consumer counselling credit services) they have been great and got my monthly out goings down from 300+ to 67 per month, there are 2 cc's both with over 2,000 outstanding most of which is late payment and interest charges, one of them is now with a debt collection agency, there is also one that is around 500, which if you can believe jumped from 320, and i hadnt even used it, is it worth persuing the cc's as i believe of the 4,500 outstanding a substantial amount of this is fees.
any advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks

As above, yes you can claim from credit cards, however as one is with a DCA they are likely to pay any monies reclaimed towards this debt.0

Hi can anyone help please? I am in the process of trying to claim back the charges made on my Barclaycard and Capital One credit card accounts. I have sent the letters requesting the refunds of the total charges made plus interest on both accounts. They have both responded with a partial offer, which is the difference between what they originally charged and £12 (which was the amount recommended by the OFT). They haven't added any interest and Capital One want me to sign an acceptance form (even though they have already credited my account with the amount).
Should I just accept these offers now and be glad to get anything of should I continue trying to get more?
Also, I have requested statements from Alliance and Leicester credit card way back in March. They only sent info. after March 2003, even though I have been with them longer than the six year period. I have sent a letter explaining what they have done and requesting the full information, but they still haven't provided it. Should I estimate the missing info. and proceed with the claim? I have already threatened them with the Information Commissioner but they don't seem to care. Any advice appreciated.0 -
Generally all the cc companies will offer the difference between what you are claiming and the £12 as recommended by OFT, its up to you if you want to refuse and continue to court for the remainder of your claim. They won't ever add in any interest at this stage as this is awarded by the court and doesn't come into play until you start the court procedure.
Estimating any claim is a bad idea, you need to get back on to A&L to get the rest of your information/statements.0 -
I sent my £10 cheque off to Egg along with the template letter asking for my 6 years of charges and 3 weeks later today got a letter from them. My cheque has been returned and they have sent me a form to fill out asking me whether I want option 1 - a complete list of transactions for a charge of £5, option 2 - copies of all my original statements for £2 each or option 3 - a complete data subject information request for £10, which do I need to ask for ?

3, or 1 if you think you will understand the list.0

In fact check the Egg thread and see what people there are saying, you'll find it linked in the Reclaim Help Thread which is linked in my signature.0

Anyone know if you have to have reclaimed charges credited back to your existing credit card account or, if you are able to have them send you a cheque?
I'm in process of settling out of court with Capital One and they insist I must have the amount refunded onto my account as I "still owe them money".
thanks!0
