If blood type really had such an effect on food, it would be common-knowledge throughout the medical community....

WHY WOULD IT BE COMMON KNOWLEDGE. when doctors are trained i have not seen any of them have refresher courses. our doctors did nto even know about the latest remedies . i had to give her a photocopy!!!

I really do not believe in blood type diet, GPs can't know everything, as someone said before, thats why they refer you. I would be interest to know what kind of articles you gave the doctor, unless they are evidence based they will not be interested and AFAIK will not be able to act upon them anyway. There are guidelines they have to stick to

I think I'm going to back away slowly and not make eye contact - the DT board is full of people who wouldn't know scientific evidence if it fell on their head from a great height and prefer to believe whatever snake oil the peddlers are chucking around (in this case, blood type diets). This is going the same way.

Incidentally, I tried going veggie. Was anaemic in a fortnight.

I also powerlift. Where the hell am I going to get my protein from, if not meat? And March2012, did you miss the bit where I FEEL BETTER for the diet I'm on now? *eyeroll*

My IBS was triggered by teenage bulimia. Going veggie isn't going to magically repair my gut.

Stop churning out rubbish and give me a link to a studied scientific report that shows that wheat causes migraines and one that shows that the blood type diet is the saviour of us all.

Totally agree with Soolin's post, apart from a biopsy being quite painless via the mouth! Maybe it is painless if your Hospital offers decent sedation, mine didn't and if I have to repeat the test I wouldn't do it without a GA, it was horiffic I had a very bad experience, made worse by a problem only discovered during the test!

I have had about 8 biopsies now as I volunteered for some clinical trials. I actually ended up having the last few with no sedation at all as I needed to drive home immediately afterwards. I can't say it was pleasant and the anticipation would make my stomach flare up with nerves- but at least I could get up afterwards get dressed and go home without all the issues i have with sedation.

I think it depends on the person- and i would never suggest someone has anything they are not comfortable with and all the hospitals I have been tested at have spent time going through the options with me, nothing was forced on me and the decision about sedation etc was entirely mine. As in all cases talk to the medics as they are there to help.

Also, can I apologise if i seemed to be un neccessarily harsh at all on this thread. I am not an elitist- I don't want to keep coeliac to myself- but this is a hard life sometimes and it is made worse by every celeb going gluten free and all the nonsense on the internet about 'bad' wheat and 'good wheat and I get frustrated tha people with different illnesses may get the wrong advice because they don't ask the medics and instead rely on what someone told them their aunties best friend did once that made her well.

There are no symptoms of coeliac that every coeliac gets, and in many cases the symptons can be of a completely different illness or condition that is masked by blindly believing you are coeliac and merely need to avoid gluten.

I still get told frequently that spelt is fine for me as the internet says it is a good wheat (no it isn't), I was even told by a health food shop once that coeliac is a myth and that it is the pesticides we are allergic to so there is no harm at all in me eating gluten as long as I stick to organic - hmmm
