That's very true and yes, silly time to go for a first camp-out. But the OP's hotel was already booked and even I wouldn't ditch a paid for hotel in favour of a tent...well, I might, but I'm odd, I agree. But £200 x say five visits = £1,000 and really, that would buy a lot of camping kit that she could use over the whole summer. And as a bonus she could send the in-laws out to sleep in it when they came visiting, garden permitting.
Most campsites have perfectly good loo and shower blocks btw. I'd never go to a campsite without a shower, eurgh.Val.0 -

I'd happily spend £10k a year not to go camping. :rotfl:Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -

If you've never tried it, you don't know what you're missing! But send me the £10k, I'll happily do it for you.Val.0 -

It is lovely and has lots of other animals that your daughter will be able to feed including meerkats. There is also an indoor craft and activity centre if you want to get her inside for a bit.

Thank you for this suggestion. We had a lovely day there today.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
So, a brief update. Spoke to DH in the car and he realised how I felt about it all. He spoke to each brother on the phone to tell them where we would be and that it would be nice to see them. The furthest away brother seemed to have filled the whole weekend with other things, so DH said "its like you've deliberately arranged it so you cant see us."
We got up here on Friday evening and managed to go round to one brother's house in the evening. It was last minute so we called into a supermarket and bought dinner for us all. It was a nice evening.
Then yesterday we went off to the butterfly house for a few hours. We all had a lovely time. Then we went over to another brother's house to meet the newborn. Again, didn't want to be any trouble so we bought dinner on the way for all of us. Had a nice afternoon/evening, was able to help with the baby and DD had a lovely time playing with her cousin.
Had a call from furthest away SIL saying that she thought we'd go over there and just fit around their other visitors. I said that having spent so long in the car to get up here I didn't really want to drive another hour+ over to theirs. They've cancelled today's activities (DIY) so that they can come over and see us so I've booked a table over this way for a late lunch this afternoon for all of us, so will see the other brother and his family without having to make much effort (or having to cook!!). Hopefully we can take the kids out somewhere tomorrow before we head back.
So, I admit it. You were right. I left it to DH to speak to his brothers and we've sorted it out from there. Will take this approach in future. And make sure we've attractions to see while we're here.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -

Glad it turned out well and you had a good weekend. I'm also pleased that his family made an effort afterall. Hopefully you won't have to be so stressed about visiting in futureMortgage when started: £330,995

Thanks for the update OP - so glad it worked out and that your DH was able to say " it's like you are deliberately avoiding us". This seemed to make the difference. Sounds like leaving it to him to sort out is the way to go.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0
