Dating Height

I am not a particularly tall guy at 5ft7 but always had a thing for tall girls. What are you experiences regarding heights and dating. and does it matter?

I'm 5ft 4 (female) and always went for men over 6ft, usually 6ft3 or 4. My husband is 5ft 8/9 which I found weird at first but got used to it.

I couldn't date anyone shorter than me but then again I'm short. My brothers girlfriend is 5ft11 and she never dated anyone shorter than her. My brother is 6ft3.

I'm not too fussed about height. Its not one of my dating must haves to be shorter than the bloke (in fact, very tall or very big men make me nervous) but at 5 foot 4 it's hard to find a bloke my height anyway.

I wish I didn't, but I do have a bit of an inferiority complex about a woman being taller than me on a date. It just nags away at me for some reason! I'm 5ft 10, so wouldn't say I'm particularly small.

My husband is just a couple of inches taller than me. Mainly I just make sure I don't wear platforms if he is in not wearing proper shoes or boots (which give a bit of height over sneakers or similar). Very occasionally in my highest heels, ( which I rarely wear any more but not because of the height issue) i just accept i a, a little taller than him i think, i did feel a bit odd about it at first (he didn't) but it has lots of advantages. He is a good height for discrete whispering of 'sweet nothings' and a good height for kissing. :). We share a car and don't have to move the car seat (I drive a bit further back than he does) and we live in an old house with low doorways. :). Both in our bare feet he is still tall enough to rest my head on his shoulder.

Him at his height versus anyone else taller is an absolute no brainer for me, him every time.

I have always dated guys that are taller than me. However I am only 5ft 4 so not many guys would be at or below my height.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

My late SIL was six foot tall, preferred taller men and always seemed to end up with absolute !!!!!!s tbh. I suggested she widen her parameters a bit re height and she was absolutely adamant about it, no. She missed some lovely men that way, men that would have made her a lot happier. My flatmate at Uni was also six feet tall and chose boyfriends on the basis of whether they were nice blokes with a sense of humour and lots of things in common. Her husband is 5'5", they've been happily married for nearly thirty years.

I'm 5'2" these days, my OH is 6'4". I feel like a weeble most days, my tall kids don't help.

Anyway, I do think you're attracted to who you're attracted to, both you for tall women and (unfortunately for you perhaps) a lot of women prefer taller men. However it's not set in stone so in both cases I think it's silly to look at nothing but height, people come as a package and there's no point in finding a woman that looks "perfect" but you've nothing in common with. TBH though I think most very tall girls soon work out that they're missing out if they only want to date taller men, it's no great character plus in a mate to be able to reach high shelves, especially if you can do it yourself anyway.

I'm not keen if a man is smaller than me, I do like a man to be taller just beacause it is more manly I guess. In no way do I want to be a princess but it makes me feel more protected and looked after, something sadly lacking in previous relationship!
If it was the only thing I didn't like about them then it wouldn't matter really.
I'm only 5'2 and a half in my socks so tbh someone 5'7 would be perfect for me lol!

I only liked to go out with men the same height or taller than me. I tried going out with someone smaller and it felt all wrong. My husband is 6ft1 and I am 5ft8

The average man is (I think) five feet nine inches. (Average height of women according to the same bbc link is 5 feet 3 inches) I am just over an inch taller than you. Wikipedia has high heeled shoes as anything over 3.5 inches to about five inches. I have plenty of shoes this high, or higher but with a platform (so for the foot not higher).

It's really not hard for ' average ish' women to equal or exceed average ish height men with our 'prettiest' heels on.

I mainly wear flats or low heels for health reasons now but if I wear 'pretty shoes' I just don't worry about it much.

The trouble with being short when your man is tall is that sometimes you need a box to stand on.;)
