Money Grabbing Vet!!!

Oh my goodness, that's appalling! How about 'naming and shaming' this vet's practice?
How's the poor dog doing?0 -
The Vet in question is The Veterinary Emergency Treatment Service (VETS Ltd) who operate from Valley Vets in Ystrad Mynach during out of hours periods. I have been asked to point out that Valley Vets and The Veterinary Emergency Treatment Service are completly seperate companies who just happen to operate from the same building. On another note, we should be collecting Daisy this evening, just spoke to the vet and her op will be at about 2 this afternoon and as long as she is out of the sedation by the time they close we can have her back.
The vet she is at now has not asked for a penny yet although they have advised me on costs and we have worked out a payment plan.0 -

Just because they are a vet, does not indicate they actually care about animals, sadly. Some are just in it for the money,as you have found out.
However, being a young Jack Russell I am pretty sure it won't be long before she is up and raring to go again.Lively is an understatement for this breed!!
My mum had a Jack Russell cross.Mind of his own and a terrible wanderer. One evening while i was staying with her,he escaped(he should have been called Houdini) and upon his return in the middle of the night, sneaked back in(it was common practice to leave the back door ajar for him.)Very fortunately for him,i came down in the early hours to see if he was back and shut the door.He was lying in a pool of blood in his bed.His back leg was ripped open right down to the bone,a horrible sight.Mum and I bandaged it up as tight as we dare and sat with him until morning when we rushed him to the vets.It was awful to think if i hadn't got up and checked on him he would probably have died.
Anyway the vet stitched him up and warned us he may never get full use of his leg again or it may even have to be amputated. It would certainly slow him up in the future.
Did it heck!! within about 3 days he was leaping up and down and trying all manner of things to slip out again.Needless to say a lot more care was taken to keep him in but he still managed the odd escape now and again.(We lived in the country so traffic was not really an issue)
I hope you get some satisfaction over this,it was a horrible experience to go through.Vets fees are bad enough without this sort of attitude.
All the best to your little dog anyway.0 -

No thanks.
not £16 a month everywhere obviously - can be as cheap as £5 per month
i'm guessing you would have health insurance for children if needed - to me, a pet is a member of the family so insurance would be a must
it isn't the vet's fault that the dog was hurt - it was the OP's fault that he/she couldn't provide it with pain relief by not bothering to get pet insurance for the likelihood of something happening to this poor animal
unbelievable
get a dog = get pet insurance
get a dog but don't get pet insurance? then don't whine about when something goes wrong!!!!!!!!0
