In the days before smoking was banned in the workplace, I had to sit opposite someone who chainsmoked. Utterly foul!

I don't think there is anyone who smokes in our office.

As unpleasant as you may find it (it doesn't bother me), I'd lay off mentioning the issue at all - in application and interview, and during the first couple of years of any job that you may land...

Who is on a break? The poster just said they have a fag whenever they like therefore that not a break

Yes, and if the management allow it, they are on a break, as they are not working with managements consent...

The poster never said that they said whenever THEY want so I am guessing its not a break as the poster don't get one.

Some people seem to think they are entitled to smoking breaks PAID!!

Yes, and it is reasonable to expect that management knows where their employees are at all times. By permitting workers to go for fags they are giving them a break. Therefore the smoking ban has no relevance.

At some workplaces they are. I have never understood it, even as a smoker I took no more breaks than my non smoking colleagues, but others still allow additional 'smoking breaks'.

I can't bear to be around anyone who has other opinions, habits or anyone who has any level of maturity or respect for the fact that the world revolves solely around me ......... Do you think my possible future employer will mind ?

Sheesh - You couldn't make it up !!!

The OP doesn't have a job but in their head in all workplaces all smokers have unlimited smoking breaks ?

You would be very surprised that a lot of management have no idea where the staff are in their doors are closed or in another office.

I worked with someone who went in the ladies and put on a fake tan and in that time she could have smoked a packet of fags haha
