LOL no I will give her the £10 with the wine and I will take Mrcows suggestion with the cake, however I will buy the cake cos I'm completely hopeless at baking, I mean hopeless lol.0 -

Oh that's well finished lol, and a really nice body lotion it was too IMO lol.0 -
Well here I agree with you 100% BUT my sister keeps saying no and as my birthday is before hers, I always just give her money. It is very pointless, but she will not listen.
My husband and his siblings don't gift each other when its their birthdays because its pointless, but I think my sister wants to keep the birthday thing going because its just me and her!
aargh your sister sounds like a bit of a nightmare!
Look if you don't want this stress with her birthday every year, stop suggesting about stopping pressies - tell her, don't ask her, that from after her birthday thats it, you won't be doing birthday presents anymore for her, and you don't expect a present from her either. Just a card.0 -
I don't get it: you got some second-hand body lotion for your birthday but your sister is hinting, and not being very subtle about it, about restaurants and Chanel perfume. She's brazen about being grasping, isn't she? And your mother is going to collude with her as well. Sod the two of them I say!0

She's a cheeky moo. Just give her the card & wine.
If she doesn't like it, tough! She's sound very princessy.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -

I don't know if my mum knows about the body lotion being 2nd hand, my niece was 8 at the time and if I had said anything My sister would just have said that she bought it for me and my niece must have got t wrong, which she could have done I suppose.
CH27, she is very princessy I'm sitting here thinking about other things she has said and done and any time I have a get together in my home she expects me to buy in her wine @ £15 a bottle and she never brings anything with her! She's just that kind of person. Whenever one of my friends sees her she always refer to her as "the lady" as in "oh here comes the lady" because as I said earlier my sister walks about as if she's better than everyone0 -
can I also say I do love her really and I would never hurt her, she just annoys me sometimes and I think she's going to be really annoyed and hurt with her gift, but I'm just not willing to get myself into debt for her birthday. My youngests birthday was last month and he didn't get everything he wanted because we couldn't afford it.0

Jackie, have you already bought the wine? If not, why not buy a single present for £25 or a gift card.
Mrcow's idea of a magazine subscription is very good. If you have Tesco vouchers, you could use them to get a whole year's subscription.
I'd be very disappointed with my mum and sister if they took this mercenary attitude knowing I was hard up.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
