thanks for those reset suggestions, but none seem to be viable? i dont have the option to unregister as per method 1.

method 2 - i dont have any flashing arrows?!

method 3 - what page down buttons?!

seting up my kindle was nowhere near this difficult, wish that hadnt died on me!

My Nook worked straight out of the box, so it's hard to visualise your problem.

Page down buttons? Have you noticed the hard buttons either side of the screen?

Don't you see a menu like this in settings?

I picked up my nook from john lewis today It was there by 9.30:j

I cant get it registered i have entered my password for the wi fi it says connected then when I go to the next page it says

    error
sorry were having trouble setting up your nook
please shut down and try again

I have tried again but cant get any further
    I have a o2 wireless box 5

also tried google but can't find the exact same problem
there was a suggestion of entering the mac code in the router settings but it shouldn't be that complicated should it?

never had this with my mobiles kindle wii or ps3 they linked 1st time
just noticed 2 others with the same problem who got theirs from john lewis it makes me feel a bit better.
have done a soft reset already cant do a hard reset as not registered yet so cant access any menus like in the last post

Going to have heated words with John Lewis tomorrow fuming. I have exact same issues as you google it but it seems to be a common error with refurbs. However John Lewis ones should be new.

I got Nookmanager to root the NT but then it isn't clear where you go from there. I ended up selecting exit and then it seemed to reboot into the Nook home rather than any android interface.

I followed the instructions at http://www.babblingengineer.com/how-to/how-i-turned-my-nook-into-an-e-reader-monster/ (and the links from that page) but must confess the first time I just loaded up the Nookmanager, didn't actually find the root option and exited and wondered why nothing had changed!

When I tried method 2, I was stuck at the Your Nook is Starting screen. I kept holding down the power button on the back for approximately 10 seconds each time. Every so often the screen flashes black. After I had done that quite a few times (probably 6 flashes but it didn't seem to flash for every hold so 10 to 12 holds of the button ) it told me it was resetting and went through a reset which took 5 to 10 minutes.

Just received my Nook simple touch from Very and am having the sorry we're having trouble setting up your nook problem. Has anybody actually got one of these working after this problem or are we sending them back? It connected to my Wi-Fi but cant get any further and don't have any options to change any settings.

Picked up my nook from John Lewis last night and have the same problem; can't register it :( Hoping that it's something to do with the B&N server rather than all of our Nooks!

Me too! Got a nook from John Lewis yesterday and had another from Argos delivered this morning. Got past the language choice and wifi set up, onto the Sign in page and got the same error message as everyone on both of them!

Safety in increasing numbers, the more of us there are the more likely to be a solution sorted. I hope.
