Not sure if anyone has mentioned that is fairly easy to 'root' your Nook to enable you to use it as a basic tablet ie surf the net, download android apps etc.
I'd be more that happy to help if anyone wants more info.
Tried it and got the SD card installed etc but when it came to booting the nook it seems to hang on booting from the SD card. Talks about waiting for the screen to flashback - what are you supposed to see?0 -

What method/loader are you using?
Nookmanager?0 -
It should clear and the title will appear after a few seconds then the menu in about 30 or so. If it doesn't try reformatting the sdcard and put the image back on it.Registered Linux user #497422 :beer:0

My guarantee came through the post a few days later. Hth.0 -
I used Touchnooter as per link in Rochycoo message. But just looked up Nookmanager and might give that a go0

As to why re-convert using Calibre, I do this to change the font size to suit my ageing eyes. Although with the Nook this is not as necessary as it was with my Sony.Registered Linux user #497422 :beer:0

I couldn't get the instructions on this thread to work - factory reset and tried twice but didn't seem to work for my software - 1.2.1. Nookmanager worked well but instructions weren't quite as user friendly I thought.0 -

Luckily the Nook does have a large range of fonts. Putting it through the convertor unnecessarily could mess up formatting, only reason I mentioned it.

Oh, thank you! That was very helpful to know - the stores usually say that during the ordering process, but didn't see anything about it from them. Thanks! :j0 -
