I just don't see why u would bother posting it to be honest. What help does it offer anyone just seems you wanted to be a bit rude to me.
I know the fault also is with John Lewis as they are selling the product and should of checked the item first. However companies like to hand the blame onto one another leaving the consumer normally the one who has to do all the running about and stress of returning items.
I understand companies have issues but am not the only one who is a little bit disappointed with Nooks customer service. I just got palmed off with a lame wait 48 hours or return to john lewis.
This is why I don't really post on this board anymore because someone always attacks something you say for no real reason. Its not very nice and makes me not want to post anything. I have given a report of how I am dealing with the problem and what customer service have told me am just trying to help others. I certaintly don't need people being rude or crossing out my mistakes.
And thats the last am going to comment and from now on my posts will be about the topic and trying to inform, help others or find help myself. This thread alone is cluttered with pointless disagreements and makes it hard to find useful information.
sigh,yes you are being attacked
poor poor you
You are not being fobbed off.
You have a direct recourse with JL right now
no need to wait 48 hours0 -
Got some kind of positive news. I just turned on my nook again to see if anything changed and the signing on screen loaded but then said I had a network error and did i want to try resolve it. It then led to the same error page but at least its getting somewhere. Hopefully this means that they are sorting out the problem0

I have to agree that there was absolutely no need for custardy to correct your grammar when quoting your post. That is just plain rude and really not in keeping with the spirit of MSE.
Hope you manage to get the problem sorted soon, RachRubyD (and everyone else currently experiencing problems with their Nooks!). If any consolation, if you do need help from John Lewis I have always found their Customer Service to be brilliant but fingers-crossed your Nook will start behaving itself soon.0 -
Finally recieved our 2 Nooks from Very today and can't set either of them up "Sorry we're having trouble setting up your Nook. Please shut down the device and try again."
Went onto the Nook website and had a live chat, she took the serial numbers, then talked me through a hard reset which didn't do a thing! I was then told this "I do apologise for the inconvenience as of the moment I already escalated the issue and we're on a process resolving this. Kindly try to register again the NOOK after 48 to 72 hours. If the same error occur, please contact us via chat, email or phone call"
A new gadget and I can't do a thing with it for 48 hours, and have to say I'm not that hopeful it'll work then! Just thought I'd share this for those of you having the same problem!0 -
Sorry if I appear a bit thick here, but isn't it possible to download free books to the Nook ST without registering with the Nook site? If you try any of the free ebooks sites, and download to your computer, cannot the book then be dragged to the Nook, via a cable connection? I can't try it because my Nook is registered already. I very rarely use the Nook site, getting my freebies from Gutenburg.org (?com) and thebookdepository mainly. Sorry if I'm totally wrong, it just seems like an option.0

Hi FPcat,
sadly, it seems you can't do ANYTHING with the Nook until it is registered as this is part of the set up process. The machine will not move on from the sign on page except to say there has been an error and to power off and try again. So, no, that's not an option.
It is most frustrating. I'm glad I ordered from John Lewis as at least i can be pretty sure of getting my money back if this continues much longer.Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!0 -
I'm having the same error message with setting up my nook. Have tried a hard reset to no avail after taking with nook cs. I've booked a return to Very who don't even have the nook on their website anymore. I might try once more later tonight but feeling very dejected as the one ordered by my husband from nook direct had no issues. He's been using it for a month.0

It does seem a very new problem. Mine came from Very on Friday and (apart from having to hard reset it twice because the root wouldn't work) I had no problems. This seems to have started on Saturday so hopefully it's a software/server issue that will be solved after the weekend.0 -
Maybe I should un book the return?0

Thanks, I'd missed about free ebooks from thebookdepository.
