Not sure if anyone has mentioned that is fairly easy to 'root' your Nook to enable you to use it as a basic tablet ie surf the net, download android apps etc.

Make sure you read the instructions carefully and there is a warning that it could 'brick' the Nook but this can be restored back to factory settings without much hassle.

I've rooted mine and have Kindle app installed as I find that there are a lot more free books available from Amazon and the choice of other books is so much larger.

I'd be more that happy to help if anyone wants more info.

TO get the kindle app on the nook, you need to root it. For that you need a micro-sd card. After that it is just a matter of pressing the buttons.
I have the kindle app and gmail on mine.

Hi, only just got my glow a few days ago so im not too keen on doing that just yet - as im not sure of my skills lol !

ive only just worked out how to get a frree book from the library on a new adobe digital publisher download.

please could you advise me on where to buy Dan Brown and share to a Kobo and Nook - i only know how to buy direct from nook/kobo direct.

    thanx
  • I ordered mine from Currys on 02/05 finally arrived this week. Registered the device (thinking it was strange that the only time zones were US!), next day received an email from Nook saying that there was a problem and could I confirm delivery address for a replacement. Sent them address and serial number and they have confirmed that it was a US firmware one and have issued a replacement :) No need for rooting :) Have to say impressed with the customer service from Nook

    Well have given up !
Spent hours yet again , finding books , downloaded three and no idea where they are !
This has been the worst experience ever !
I cant get free books unless I register a credit card , when I download them from somewhere else I have no idea where they have gone-not in the calibre library or the digital editions either .
At least with a kindle its easy .
I wanted this for the glowlight and its lighter to use due to not having very good hands.
Obviously my old brain cannot get to grips with all this -its just too complicated for me !
Will have to sell it !

    try this .......

    go to

    http://www.booksshouldbefree.com/Top_100ttp://

    or

    http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/free-epub-books-online.htm

pick a book , then click on to open its own window.

scroll down to ebook downloads, pick .epub

and save it to your pc/laptop the desktop will do.

Connect Nook to the pc/laptop, if a window does not pop up then click my computer from start menu.

The Nook should now be shown, navigate to my files / books (it is slightly different depending on which Nook you have)

drag and drop / cut and paste your new downloaded book to this draw .....

do safely remove Nook then disconnect.....

open your Nook then go to library and the book will be there ;)

UK nooks have a .co.uk web address on the outside of the box (well, mine did). Presumably the US ones have a .com address. Therefore you should be able to check them before you remove the cellophane.
